For me last place belongs to... Dawn! (Oh sorry I forget about Piplup). So Dawn and Piplup. But Piplup isn't character. It is a pokemon. My bad, sorry.
 
Well, mine are mostly one time characters so...
First off! The first Pokemon character I began to favor was Kasumi, I just liked her xD her personality, the hole bike thing. All of it =] Though I don't like her as much now, she'll still always be up there in my list of favorites. Next came Trixie, a girl who appearing during the Johto arc of the anime, she was quite older than Satoshi and Kasumi. She was really pretty and had an Azumarill, I began to like her because I developed this weird fantasy of her and Will being together, I even wrote a fanfic about it, which will never be posted anywhere xD She was just awsome, and girly, and frilly, and great.
Then came Haruka, I just liked her right of the bat, especially when she fangirled for Kasumi, I always would say how pretty Haruka was, I liked her Torchic too. I also liked her becausse she and Shuu gave us the first MAJOR shipping plots in the anime, which is delishious :3
Now here comes my all time fav character of EVER!
FRICKIN' JOE MACHEAL SHOULD STOP MAKIN' FUN OF SNOOKI SHE'S WAY BETTER THAN YOU, HE'S A LITTLE LOSER NO BODY > : (
But anyway, I'm talking about Kanata/Kelly, she's great and pretty and awsome ^.^, she's been my favorite for a while now, seeing as how her personality was so different and awsome. She's my current favorite character, and will be for a long time :]
Last but not least, Maryln, I liked how she liked cute things and I always thought of her as an otaku, who would use the words 'KYYAAA' and 'KAWAII' in every sentence, I could also see her talking in text talk all the time too...I was suprised Takeshi was annoyed by her, i've never seen him annoyed ^^;

A fully evolved fire starter, a bulbasaur, a squirtle and her native regions butterfly. Yep, totally not a copy of anyone. ;)

Personally I quite like Cynthia as well, but hey I've got a thing for girls with hair down to their knees. Otherwise James is always good for a laugh, and you can't go wrong with a bit of Brock.

May. She's the best thing that happened to Pokemon, since the movies.

She's talented, lucky, charming, cute, kind...And she actually HAS a dad! *shot*
 
I just like all the girls, scratch that, just Jesse oh and some female Gym Leaders. I basically don;t like Ash's sidekicks. I kind of liked Dawn but her storyline was too much like May's. Oh I like Misty, always have, I think it's pity. I like Jesse, Misty and the Female Gym Leaders, E4, Battle Brains because of the strong feminine rile they portray, it's really good. They don't show us guys so well :(
 
I haven't watched the show in years. Last time I watched the show, Ash, Brock, & Misty were the main three charaters. Thus Misty is my favourite Character. She's clever and funny. ~.^

You summed up what I was going to say :3

I like James because of what you said but I also like Jessie, and how dominant she is. My other favorite character would have to be Saturn, his voice is awesome and he's a little arogant.
 
Harley, he was introduced just as I was getting into contests. His attitude was amazing, his rivalry with dawn was cute and I loved his choice of Pokemon, except for Wigglytuff. He is the biggest Divo in Pokemon yet.
 
In the following order:

Misty- Always has been my favorite character! She's funny, pretty, feisty, and not afraid to stand up for herself. =] Plus, I loved the mother/daughter(or son?) relationship she had with little Togepi! <3
Drew- I stopped watching shortly before Misty left, so I didn't get back into Pokemon until I was introduced to Contestshipping. And I fell in love with his character! Not only is he freakin' sexy--is that appropriate to say about a 10-11 year old kid? o.o--but he's cool, calm and confident. Plus he's got some pretty awesome Pokemon! He's May's perfect rival--at least for now. xD
May- I wasn't too crazy about her, but she's grown on me. Not only is she beautiful, but her character is so well-rounded. Clumsy, a little naive, but an all-around cute girl.
Gary- What can I say about Gary?? There's so much to love about him!!
