Gen 1 by far - you really can't beat Charizard. Venusaur is also awesome, and Blastoise is pretty cool too (although I personally prefer Feraligatr and Samurott).
Gen 5 is probably second-favourite, I'd like them a bit more if not for Emboar's "meh" design and lazy typing.

Gen 3 because Torchic evolves into Combusken which evolves into the greatsest Pokemon of all time (echoes) BLAZIKEN!
