So guys, I've been testing out my team for Battle for Hoenn and am a bit stuck on a choice between these two choices for a Fighting Type, mainly because they serve very different roles and both work equally well on the the team synergy front.

    Breloom @ Toxic Orb
    Careful
    Poison Heal
    - Leech Seed
    - Spore
    - Drain Punch
    - Protect
    252 HP/4 Atk/252 SpD

A classic bread and butter Defensive set for Breloom. Takes on a lot of the threats in the Hoenn dex really well, and has been working well for some of the less common Gardevoir sets people have been throwing around in Battle Spot lately (went up against one Grass Knot the other day wtf). I like its synergy with Torkoal and Swampert almost as much as my Sableye, and it puts a lot of pressure on Toxic and Burn Stall sets. Handles Milotic really well, which tends to be a problem for my team due to Magic Coat, rest, and defensive bulk.

    Heracross @ Heracronite
    Adamant
    Guts
    - Pin Missile
    - Rock Blast
    - Earthquake
    - Close Combat
    56 HP/252 Atk/200 Spd

A good mega to have in my back pocket for teams that are sniping Mega Swamperts. Destroys Grass types with the exception of Defensive Breloom, and still handles that pretty well with a Close Combat thanks to the Speed investment.

    The rest of my team:

    Swampert @ Swampertite
    Adamant
    Torrent
    - Protect
    - Waterfall
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Punch
    252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def

Does a lot of good work as a tank. Takes out Flygons and crippled Megamences with Ice Punch. Gets plenty of flinches with Waterfall, and hits very hard with STAB Earthquake.

Torkoal @ Sitrus Berry (or Leftovers, as I can't find an explicit item clause in the regs)
    Bold
    Shell Armor
    - Rapid Spin
    - Yawn
    - Lava Plume
    - Stealth Rock
    252 HP/252 Def/4 SpAtk

Punishes teams that try to switch in answers to my defensive core while spinning off any attempts to keep me from switching. Takes on opposing Sableyes very well. Eats up Moonblasts, Leaf Storms and Leaf Blades and tricks opponents into making bad switches. Does well against opposing Skarmories.

    Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
    Bold
    Sturdy
    - Toxic
    - Roost
    - Spikes
    - Whirlwind
    252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd

Needed a Steel Type and had this in my box. I know it's Taunt bait, but on predominantly physical teams, it's good to keep around for Earthquakes aimed at my Torkoal, and they stack entry hazards together pretty well.

    Sableye @ Leftovers
    Calm
    Prankster
    - Will-o-Wisp
    - Foul Play
    - Recover
    - Taunt
    252 HP/4 Def/252 SpD

We all know what this set does. In my training it's been the key to a dead Megamence, but does get walled by Milotic pretty hard, especially if they see a Will-o-Wisp coming and subvert it with a Magic Coat. I picked Special Defense over physical to balance out my team and so far it's working well.

    Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
    Timid
    Trace
    - Moonblast
    - Psyshock
    - Thunderbolt
    - Encore
    252 SpAtk/4 SpDef/252 Spd

Gardies are all the rage on Battle Spot right now, so I anticipate the same will be true for this tournament. I've always preferred this set because of how versatile it is, it leads and revenge kills equally well, and Thunderbolt has saved my life more times than one.

Breloom or Heracross, guys? I love both these pokes and am at a loss.
