Okay I see. It would be good for Square-Enix to remake the earlier FF series on PS3 or X-BOX. The graphics sucked at FC/SFC so many younger people don't like to play old FF series. However, it would bring fans back to the early stage of Final Fantasy by those remakes and people will begin appreciating those old FF games. You may not know it, but if you played FF4 DS you'll be shocked at Rosa's beauty, I tell you!

You mentioned in the console thread that you have yet to own a PS2, while X and X-2 are only available for that system. How could you possibly criticize the series while you haven't played the games yourself?

FF VII is a game that is, in so many ways, one of the better installments in the series. In its time, the game had stellar graphics, an intriguing storyline, a memorable soundtrack, great character development and gameplay to match. It's just so overhyped to the point of being called the incontestable "Best in Series." That may or not be true, but either way, it will go down in gaming history as a crowning achievement for Square Enix for demonstrating the power of a great story. The only real issue I had was that most of the enemies were far too easy. I'll also admit that 11 years later, the graphics haven't held up well, but I have no complaints in that department.

Final Fantasy VIII had outstanding CGs, an engrossing story, and wonderful characters. I think this game deserved much more than what most gave it. It was overshadowed by the excellence of FFVII, but it remains as a definite favourite. As for IX, I haven't given it a try as it didn't really interest me enough.
 
I was a huge fan of VII. Played it before the hype hit it. But as Seifer said, VIII was over shadowed by it. VII was amazing, but VIII was just a good... and had even better graphics. the only complaint I have with VIII is how annoying it was for you party members to follow you around >>
As for IX, it was different and a little weird, but an amazing game. And the boss battle was one of the most challenging I have found in the series. So... it is up there too. But as for my favorite... I don't know. I would have to say VII I guess... though that is a hard one. Too bad X wasn't included. It was amazing.

And I don't like how somepeople here think they can judge a game and not even have played it. X isn't as overrated as VII is sweethart. Give it a try why don't you? >>
