I just got back into the TCG after about 7 years, and even back in the day I never got into any serious deck building, so this is my first shot at it. It's a Fire/Fighting deck, with an emphasis on bench damage (for the fighting pokemon). Any advice would be great, especially in getting the trainers straightened out. They feel a little random to me. I put the set name by each pokemon. Thanks!

    Pokemon (17):
    2 Baltoy GE
2 Claydol GE (to keep fresh cards coming in)
    2 Diglett Pt
    2 Dugtrio Pt
    4 Charmander SW
    3 Charmeleon SW
    2 Charizard SF

    Trainers (24):
2 Bench Shield (to protect from Dugtrio's magnitude)
    2 Stark Mountain
    1 Luxury Ball
    4 Great Ball
    2 Underground Exploration
    3 Bebe's Search
    4 Roseanne's Research
    2 Cynthia's Feelings
    2 Marley's Request
    2 Pokedex

    Energies (19):
    10 Fire Energy
    9 Fighting Energy

    Um...if I recall correctly, there isn't a Charizard Lv.X... There's a Charizard G Lv.X...but it can't level up on a normal Charizard lol

Add another Claydol, Dugtrio, and Charizard over the Charizard G Lv.X and 2 fighting Energy. Then take out the Onix and Rampardos for more Trainers. Take out the TGI-107, Double Full Heal, Life Herb, Potion, Mom's Kindness, and Bubble Coat for draw and search trainers. PokeBalls are actually useful, despite what people usually say. lol If you get Roseanne's Research and recovery cards (Palmer's/Night Maintenance) take out more Energy for good trainers.

Oh crap, you're right. It's a G card, I didn't notice that... Dang, I was hoping to use Call for Power (move energy to the Lv. X) in combination with the Stormfront Charizard's Energy Burn (all energies attached are fire) to totally dominate, but I guess that's not happening. Also, if I add another Claydol and Dugtrio, should I add another Baltoy and Diglett? I'll definitely take your advice and make some changes, then repost it later on. Thank you!

Um...no. you only need 2-2 lines of each. Just get good search power, and you'll be fine for now. I'll wait for the repost and edit that lol

Alright, I'm done revising my deck, and here it is:

    Pokemon (18):
    2 Baltoy GE
2 Claydol GE (to keep fresh cards coming in)
    2 Diglett Pt
    2 Dugtrio Pt
    4 Charmander SW
    3 Charmeleon SW
3 Charizard SW or SF, or one from both

    Trainers (22):
2 Bench Shield (to protect from Dugtrio's magnitude)
    2 Stark Mountain
    2 Lucian's Assignment
    2 Luxury Ball
    3 Great Ball
    2 Underground Exploration
    2 Bebe's Search
    2 Cynthia's Feelings
    3 Energy Search
    2 Marley's Request

    Energies (20):
    11 Fire Energy
    9 Fighting Energy

Any reason why I shouldn't have Mom's Kindness or Potion?

Yes; Mom's Kindness is the weakest drawing supporter out, and Potion has a weak effect and if very situational if it'll change a game at all.

Due to the fact that a second Luxury Ball will be a dead draw after you use the first, take one out and add a 4th Great Ball. Also, take out Energy search for, if you can find some, Roseanne's Research, and take out the Lucians, because it won't be used too effectively, as you have Stark Mountain, and the retreat costs of the Pokemon you're using (Charizard) are too high, for Bebe's or some drawing supporter. Underground Expedition is good because it gives hand advantage through small search, and Cynthia's Guidance is nice 'cuz it has a better search range. They're pretty nice, so you could use them. PokeDex are good when you get the Roseanne's and the Bebe's (4 of each, pretty much lol), but you could use them, as decks without search are still pretty luck-based XP

Well, you definately improved your deck the second time around. Copy/Paste it on your first post (click "edit" on the bottom left hand corner of your post) Yay!

Thanks again. I made another revision and edited it into my original post. I added the cards you suggested, and got rid of one Charizard (I decided to go with the Stormfront Charizard, for Energy Burn since I got rid of one fire energy to make room and also for nostalgia since it's a reprint of the card everyone wanted!). You don't think I have too many trainers now, do you?

lol You should run 3 Charizard like you did. Also, 30 trainers in a deck is usually a good amount, but...lol Stage 2s use less 'cuz of Evolutions. It's fine, but I'd add in the Charizard.
