I was lucky enough to get all fire starters from all generations in wonder trade... and thus I can breed all... and basically they are the best I can breed right now.. but got no idea who I shall breed and if they're really worth it (if i can trade them for something awesome) - kidna new to online stuff like trading etc..

Starter's imo best way to fill up your dex

I managed to get every pokemon Except legendaries and some Evolution's via Tepig's (some treecko's) on the GTS

for shinies you can get legendaries , but if you want a pokemon put it on GTS for the pokemon you want wait couple minitues then boom you have it :D

I'm guessing breeding charmander or finnekin are the least profitable since they are so common in this generation... can't figure out which i wanna trade most xD

Starters aren't worth much because like you said, with some luck, many players can get them pretty easily through wondertrade. Breeders often give them out for free as well. However, Tepig and Cyndaquil are rare so you could breed them and use the GTS to complete the Dex to get a Shiny Charm. This key item boosts your chances of finding alternate color Pokemon, which sell like hotcakes.

Or, you can start breeding for Pokemon with maximum stats if you have a sizable Friend Safari, Ditto, or other resources. There are guides in Trade Corner. Hope this helps.

The values of starters have really dropped dramatically over the years, though.

Unless they are Shinies, or have flawless/ near flawless IVs.

I have all the starters from every gen. Cyndaquil is the rarest and worth the most on GTS. But with PokeBank open, everyone can get a Cyndaquil from their fifth gen games. Like Shiny Latias said, unless they have five or six IVs, you can't get much for them.
