Fire Type Pokémon as transportation

there was an episode in the first Pokémon series where it stated that it is possible to ride a Fire Type Pokémon without getting burnt if your friendship with the Pokémon is high enough...

taking that into consideration, if you wanted to build up high enough friendship with a Fire Type Pokémon so you could ride it as transportation without getting burnt, what Fire Type Pokémon would it be??

I think I can remember something like that from the Anime? It was either a Ponyta or an Arcanine, not sure anymore. At any rate, speaking of which, I would choose an Arcanine, it's probably one of my favourite fire types aside from Charizard.

That was Ponyta/Rapidash. :P

Anyway, I think I'd ride on Charizard because flight is faster than running on land, IMO.

I'd probably ride Ho-Oh, since it's a giant phoenix and I wouldn't fall off or get too nervous when it flies.

Rapidash, simply because I don't see me riding a giant dog and most people ride horses, so Rapidash seems the most reasonable.
