    The very best
    Like no one ever was...

Hello! I'm Ruv. I've been thinking up ideas of a new Pokemon game for the past year or two, and I've finally come up with the basics.

Pokemon WORLD is a Pokemon Soul Silver Pokemon FireRed hack that incorporates most of the well known (And possible not-so-much known) areas into one game. As farfetch'd as this sound, I believe with enough tinkering, it can be possible!

The story will play a large part in the mechanics of this game. You're a boy from the ever expanding Pallet town, where the well known Professor Oak resides. Years ago, people tell of several heros who saved each region from evil extremists who tried to either destroy the world or steal pokemon. Recently there's been word of a new team known as Red Menace. This teams plans are simple; gain control of the entire known Pokemon world.

You're 10. Your mom saved up enough money to get you your own Pokemon! Professor Oak's grandson, Gary Oak, now runs the lab, and nowadays, nothing is free. You go to Professor Gary Oak to purchase your first pokemon. Little did you know, this set in place a large amount of events taking place accross all the known Pokemon world in which you end up stopping Team Red Menace, as well as saving the world from total domination.

    Planned Features
-Eventually having most, if not all the Pokemon contenents.
-Nothing is free, including traveling AND healing your Pokemon! (open to debate)
-Large amount of side quests, and freedom of exploration (If you can pay for it)
-Complete battle overhaul containing most modern features (fairy, phys/spec split, mega)
-New battle screen style with more attention to detail :)
-New tilesets, differing per region (Hopefully)
    -ALL POKEMON TO DATE
    -Lots of gyms!
-Most definitely seasons and RTC! (gotta love that stuff!)
-Maybe even 2 fram animated sprites
-Very possible not to have the "64x64" sprites, to conserve space
-New threads, man! (Better looking, cooler overworld sprites)
-POSSIBLY SPLIT INTO 2 GAMES DUE TO SIZE RESTRICTIONS
-And more and more and more!

My PC is currently dead, so I dont have the ability to start this project yet, but soon enough I'll be able to start. This means THIS IS STILL AND IDEA. Another thing to note, the game will most likely be a 32mb rom, the largest Pokemon GBA rom I've seen (I think). It may or may not even run on some emulators, but we'll see. Expect development to take A LONG TIME.

If you have any ideas, I'm open to them! I already have a team though, so I won't be looking for helpers unless absolutely needed.

It would be easier to actually port the content in HG/SS to a GBA ROM and work from it than doing actual DS Hacking when its current state is lots and lots of years behind of GBA/GB/GBC's.

    I mean, let's see:
Mega Evolutions? Nobody worked on them for DS.
All the Pokemon Regions? Big talk when there's pretty much 1 single person that actually modified the game maps. (Mikelan98 with his Light Platinum's DS Remake)
All the pokemons up-to-date? Again, big talk when there's pretty much 1 single person who apparently managed to expand the DS ROMs amount of pokemons. (Again, Mikelan98)

In any case, good luck with it though. Who knows, you could be the new Messiah when it comes to DS Hacking.

The only hurdle I'd have with this as a GBA hack is size limitations (I think) If I'm not mistaken, 32mb seems a little small for so many regions..... Then again, Liquid Crystal fit 2 entire detailed regions. I'll see what I have to work with. Maybe a GBA would be best, but I guess time will tell. More research must be done to make final decisions!

I'll start with a GBA hack, then maybe port to DS if and when the tools are available. Modifying the overworld and getting everything to work will be much easier than the DS rom for now. (edited OP to reflect this)

If you have no hacking experience, then please don't do this, you'll quickly get discouraged. Test the waters with a simpler hack and then make a game like this. The technical stuff isn't the only problem, there's also project management, game design, the level curve and so on. Also, you cannot not have the 64x64 sprites, using up less space of the canvas won't make the file smaller and actually resizing the files would require totally new sprites and you know, rewriting how the game loads images. Good luck, but don't aim too high.
