3rd Gen Firered help?

Well i recently BOUGHT Pokemon Firered. To begin with Pokemon... And i have a few questions:

- Is it handy to train more pokemons at the begin?
- Is Pikachu good? (Yes i wanna know, i thought it was rare or something)
- Does this pokemon game has any other generations in it?

It is R/Y/B/G but for the GBA. Yes Pikachu is good, yes it is handy to train a lot of pokemon at the beginning and yes, there are other gens in it (weel one). You can go to Kanto, or Jhoto (i forget) I think.

It's good to train a good team of Pokes, but don't take a whole lot from the very beginning. The ones in the beginning aren't very good and won't help you much in the long run.

Pikachu, is, IMHO, a VERY good Poke. I would definitely get one, there isn't a better Electric Poke except for Zapdos, who you can't get until much later.

After you get farther in the game, you can go to some Islands and after you beat the Elite 4 the first time, you can go to an island and catch Johto Pokemon, but for the most part it's Kanto. Don't quote me on this last part, I'm just saying what I've heard, the only version of Fire Red I've played from start to finish is Fire Red 386, which is a hack. Hope I helped!

I'm currently playing FireRed, so let me answer a few of these questions.

1. IMO, no. It is much easier just to train your starter Pokemon, I've made it past the Elite 4 with only a Charizard and this is the first time I've ever gotten this far.

2. If I was going to train a full team of Pokemon, Pikachu would be a must have. Raichu is the best Electric Pokemon in FireRed, IMO.

3. Not exactly. You play through Kanto just like you normally would, but then you can go to the Sevii Islands... which is a new place that allows you to catch Johto Pokemon.

This has already been covered, but I will repeat it. It is not handy to train multiple Pokemon in the beginning, unless you like wasting time battling low-level Pokemon that don't yield many Exp points.

Contrary to what others have said, while Pikachu is a serviceable Electric-type, it is definitely not the second-best Electric in FRLG. Jolteon, Electabuzz, and Magneton are better options. The first two are superior to Raichu (and especially Pikachu) in every statistical category except Atk, which doesn't matter much on an Electric-type. While Magneton has less HP and Spd, its 25 bp higher in SAtk more than make up for it. All three also have more diverse movepools to choose from.

- Does this pokemon game has any other generations in it?

Depends on your definition of "generations". You are able to catch some wild Johto Pokemon on Sevii, but that is about it. Between FireRed and Emerald, you should be able to get all but a handful of Pokemon (Event Legendaries excluded).

Pikachu is a pretty good choice for in-game. Easy to catch, and Raichu has pretty usable stats. Yeah, Magneton, Zapdos, and Electabuzz are better, but if you want something that's easy to catch, I'd recommend using Pikachu/Raichu.

Actually, Pikachu is VERY rare and only found in that maze-forest place. Voltorb is easily found after the electric gym but magneton, electabuzz and zapdos are hard to get to.

If you want something easy to catch, it doesn't get any easier than Eevee. You don't even have to waste a Poke Ball on it.

What? :/ While "rare", you're pretty much 100% going to run into one in the Viridian Forest, which is a required area and one of the first areas in the game. (It's also found in the Power Plant...)

Although, I agree with shanecdavis about Eevee.

- Well it depends on what you're training. Even if you train more pokemon VERY late in the game, it still doesn't affect your gameplay much (since you have VS Seeker in this version)
- Pikachu is fairly good in most cases particularily the 2nd gym especially if u started off with a Charmander or a Squirtle. And Pikachu aint that rare in Viridian forest. What I call rare is a Volbeat, Plusle or a Chimecho from Emerald.
- Yes it does in fact have some of the 2nd generation pokemon. 3rd Generation pokemon can only be traded into FR or LG.
