3rd Gen FireRed (Meouth pick-up)

In FireRed you are sopose to be able to have a team of meouths and walk around and find rare candys, but its not working 4 me. is there something else you have to do. or do they have to be at a certain level?

Pickup has a chance of getting an item after each battle so just walking around wont work.

The first time that you have a chance to even get a Rare Candy is at Level 21, and it is extremely hard to find. From level 21, every ten levels your Meowth gains makes it easier to find a Rare Candy. Until you are at Level 91 or above, it will be quite easy to find Rare Candy, and the odds of finding one won't be greater than that.

And yes, you do have to battle Pokemon, not just walk around. Meowth has to actually battle, too.

Meowth doesn't need to participate in the battle. As long as it is in the team it will pickup items after battles.
I usually use Meowths for cut on Fire Red and they pick up items even though I never use them in battle.
There might be a higher chance of finding items if the Meowth is in the battle but I'm not entirely sure.

The chance of finding rare candies does increase every ten levels after lv 21 though.
I believe the rarest item is TM26 which can only be found at lv 91-100.
