    What if there was a hack...where you could play as Kirby?

    Notes for Pokemon Kirby Edition

    You are given Kirby, Level 5, at start of game. It knows Transform and Pound. It's kind of like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon because there's no humans, but with Kirby characters instead of Pokemon

    Have to pass through series of dungeons modeled after Super Star Ultra for the DS.
    Defeating enemies will give you an item, which the player can then use to evolve kirby. Kirby also can use transform to evolve to the enemy.
    There will be a sort of hub area where these items can be bought.
    After getting through the 8 main bosses, the player can catch pokemon.

    I'd be interested in helping you with this if you'd like. It's totally different to my own hack, but I love Kirby games and I know of ways you'd be able to implement a lot of features that would be good for this.

    I always feel like I have ideas for romhacks but don't know enough to implement them well.
     
    Just play around with scripting and mapping to begin with as they're the meat and bones of a hack.

    I personally recommend XSE (Using thethethe's XSE Scripting tutorial) to begin with, with Advance Map. Use these to look at the game's scripts (For example, you decide you want to create a Gym Leader script or something similar. Open up a vanilla fire red rom in Advance Map, open up a map you know there's a gym leader, click on a gym leader such as Brock and you can open up the assosiated script to see exactly how it's built. Study it, and you can see what exactly causes each step of the script to happen).

    As you become more familiar, you'll come to see patterns and come up with ways that you can create your own scripts by using those in the game in creative new ways.
