First Competitive Team (X/Y)

    Since I now can battle online and whatnot, I thought it would be fun to try and build an actual competitive team—a Sun team, to be more specific. I've looked over at Smogon and picked the Pokemon that appealed to me; so far, I have four, and I'm not really sure which two I should add. I'd like to hear suggestions and comments, thank you. =)

    - Flamethrower
    - SolarBeam
    - Air Slash
    - Roost

    Lilligant @???
    Modest
    20 Def/252 SpA/40 Sp.Def/196 Spe
    - Sleep Powder

    I basically just... got the EV spread and moveset from Smogon because I really have no experience. ;w; I'm assuming that I need to make changes in the spread, though, what with the new quirks of this generation. I'm thinking of adding Vaporeon as a Wisher, but I'm not sure if it would be helpful to this team. Help?
     
    If you intend on making a Sun team, use Charizard Y as one of your Sun setters:
    -Fire Blast
    -SolarBeam
    -Focus Blast
    -Roost
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

    or
    -Flare Blitz
    -Fire Blast/Overheat
    -Focus Blast/Brick Break
    -Hidden Power (Ice)/Earthquake
    Nature: Lonely/Hasty/Naughty/Naive
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Charizardite Y

    For Lilligant, just use the standard 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe. What purpose does its current EV spread accomplish? Use Life Orb or Lum Berry as the item.

    Give Arcanine Life Orb or Expert Belt

    I dunno how MixMence fares in the XY meta, but try a Dragon Dance set and see how it works for you:
    -Dragon Dance
    -Dragon Claw
    -Earthquake
    -Fire Blast
    Nature: Naive
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Lum Berry

    Stealth Rock is a bane to sun teams, especially yours, so you need a Rapid Spinner like Forretress:

    Forretress:
    -Stealth Rock/Spikes
    -Rapid Spin
    -Volt Switch
    -Gyro Ball/Hidden Power (Ice)
    Nature: Relaxed/Bold
    EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Sturdy

    Also, consider Ninetales or Venusaur as backup Sun inducers:

    Ninetales:
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk
    -Flamethrower
    -Roar/Will-o-Wisp
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 248 HP/228 SDef/28 Spe
    Item: Heat Rock
    Ability: Drought

    or
    -Flamethrower

    -Protect
    -Roar
    Nature: Calm

    Oh, the the spread of the defense stats? I was thinking that it would somehow help her withstand some (powerful) attacks. But I guess they're really pointless?
