First Season Inconsistencies

Well - I have recently started rewatching the first season - And I cant help but notice some of the inconsistencies! And I would love it if you would share what you have noticed too!

The main one that got me a bit confused was in episode 49. So near, yet so Farfetch'd. While being tricked by the Farfetch'd and the kid - Team rocket begin to get pulled upstream in the river. Their pokemon float up to the surface, and there are 3 pokeballs. Jessie refers to her pokemon as being Arbok and Lickitung! I was absolutely confused as to whether I had missed an episode somewhere, in which she had caught it. So I bought an episode guide up and hit CTRL+F and searched "Lickitung" - And its debut appearance as a main pokemon is episode 52. Princess versus princess! Does anyone know why this happened? Is Princess Versus Princess a flashback episode?

So yeah - Im asking you lot to share with me what you noticed while watching the first season! Thank you.

Can that be right though Hiroshi?

Accoring to Serebii's Episode guide underneath their anime section - (Which I believe are quite accurate with their information) - If you look at the #J episode numbers. That was the order it was aired in Japan aswell. Was it mistranslated? Was it a fault of the writers?

I believe your deduction may have been correct, but sources say it was the same airing order as Japan.

Edit: The numbers also look "Off" because of the banned episodes, but apart from that it is the same order.

Yep, Hiroshi is right. They were aired differently than in Japan because 4kids wasn't so sure they should air them(cultural references that probably didn't make sense here, but in Japan only). They skipped those episodes and when they re-aired them, they pretty much americanized the episodes(Princess vs. Princess, the Kids Day episode).

And about the Christmas ones...I am not so sure. I think it had to do when Pokemon went on hiatus in Japan because of the seizure attacks. But I could be wrong on that. And I think Serebii wanted to be consistent with episodes in Japan. They put them that way, even though they aired in the wrong order.

That is my hunch. But I think Hiroshi nailed it. ^_^
