Iv just now ran across this genre, and personally i think its really unique and i enjoy it alot.

Anyone else listened to any of this?

Couldn't ever really get into that type of Metal. It needed to have elements of other sub-genres, even then I didn't listen to it much though.

Only bands I like with Folkish elements in them are Agalloch and Amorphis. =)

Good luck finding someone who will admit that they like folk metal because its seems like there are a lot of people who are too ashamed to admit they enjoy this sub-genre.

And yes! Agalloch is the way to go if you want to get into folk metal more.

Eh, no shame here, I even like pirate metal.

Now, folk/pagan metal bands I've got in my playlist are Ensiferum, Moonsorrow and Wolfchant. I don't listen to it all that much but still...

I'm not sue what folk metal is. Is this a folk metal song:

or is it just a folk song sung in metal style?

Bathory is a good one, the earlier materal is black metal, but he moved on to Viking/Folk metal, Blood Fire Death and Hammerheart are good ones, Blood Fire Death is folk black metal, Hammerheart is porbably the one you want, its pure folk metal. Haven't got much else, don't really listen to it

Uh, I would say that it's probably a folk song being sung in metal style, since that is only a cover song. Queensrÿche are prog anyways.
