    The Foreign Language Club

What is the Foreign Language Club?

This club is for all those who are interested in studying foreign languages (including English, as I am aware that we're from all around the world here). You don't have to be fluent in two or more languages, nor do you even have to have learned a foreign language to be able to join. We can also speak in foreign languages here.

VERY RELIABLE LANGUAGE LEARNING SITE (funded by government)

    Rules

    • I encourage you to post messages in languages other than English. However, please be aware that some people may not speak that language or their computers might not be able to display it. For this purpose, please provide an English translation.
    • Be polite to other members, and do not insult someone for making a mistake. Remember that mamy of us are still learning. If someone makes a spelling or grammatical error, you may kindly notify him or her of the mistake and correct it.
    • Internet "languages" such as chatspeak or 1337, are not to be used here. Fictional/ joke languages like Elvish or Klingon may be discussed, but please translate anything you're saying into English

    Vietnamese : 3

(Livemocha has all those languages by the way. : 3)

Why is no one filling out the country of birth? It's not like they were born in a welly-documented country of 10 people where it's easy to find you. The only time I can understand people not putting it is when people can safely assume from the languages they speak. Sure, it could be that they were born there. But it's not concrete.

For example: The person in the quote. I can safely assume he was either born in Vietnam and moved to Canada or his parents speak Vietnamese, thus they taught him although he was born in Canada.

Edit: Someone obviously didn't read my whole post. D:<

Ich denke, dass diese Thema ist eine gute Idee, aber ich habe vor einem Monat eine Fremdsprachethema gemacht, obwohl das egal ist.

I think that this thread is a good idea, but I made a foreign language thread [heheheheeh], although that's not important.

Deutsch ist eine gute Sprache zu lernen - ich wei[ss] nicht, warum Leute Deutsch lernen wollen.

German is a good language to learn - I don't know why people don't want to learn it.

    Type in Romaji.

Lammermegageil is a pun on the German word Hammermegageil, which is a rather nerdy "OMFG SO COOOOOL".

Lammer comes from the Lammergeier, a vulture that eats bones :D

Heehee, I love puns like that. XD

The only German word I know is 'klankenvargen' ('ambulance'). It's probably not even the correct spelling. :K
