I have an idea, and I need feedback.
I've Rm'ed in the past, but I've never made anything worth posting before.
But, I'm always looking for potential ideas, and I feel it's only a matter of time before I find a project I can really get behind.
This idea came to me over the course of several days, as I pieced it together bit by bit.
This game, made with RPG Maker VX, would essentially be a tactical turn-based strategy, a la Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics.
The key here, however, is that over the course of the game, player control shifts between four separate parties, each with different gameplay styles.
-One world is based on Feudal Japan; this section would be very Fire-Emblem styled, as the played controls a small army against opposing forces in differing scenarios.
-Another is pseudo-science fiction, based around technology and firearms. In converse to the Feudal world, this one would be primarily ranged-combat.
-The next one is Pokemon. The formula here would involve the main player character who doesn't actually fight himself, but (via a "summoning" script) would call upon Pokemon to fight for him. It would be somewhat similar to Mystery Dungeon games, as the player primarily controls groups of Pokemon to fight. If I can find a suitable and compatable catching script, that would be incorporated, as well.
-The final world is unique in that the player possesses only a single party member, but will also encounter a variety of allies in each scenario. There are also environmental factors that contribute to gameplay.
The biggest element of the project would be that, right from the start, the player can choose which world to play first; this will give players a chance to experiece only what they wish to experience. For example, if the player only wishes to play the Pokemon world, they may do so, and completely disregard the other three.
However, there are benefits; completing certain events in one world may unlock bonuses in the others, and I have a special "hidden" scenario in mind if the player finishes all four worlds.
Again, these are all abstract ideas. If I get enough support, I might decide to go ahead with it (I want opinions before I commit) and I might even request help, or possibly even a team.
So, any feedback? I'm open to criticism...
