Suggestion: Friend Request Messages?

Hi...um...this is my first time making a thread in this particular forum, so don't hurt me.........

Well hi! Um, some things have gone better for me in the past few days, and I've made some friend requests and stuff.

That got me thinking...would it be a possibility if you could choose to send a short (like, maybe 400 characters or less) message saying something along the lines of "Hey, I was wondering if you could be my friend because I need help in ROM Hacking/Breeding Pokémon/Life" to be received with a Friend Request.

I understand that would force you to rewrite the whole friend-request system, but I would just like to suggest it if it's not too much work for you guys.

It's a cool idea but if it's optional I don't see it being used much - people who send random requests will still send them, well, randomly. Without adding the message. 90% of the time it's clear why people are sending FRs but yeah something like this would be nice for the other 10%. But it's not really worth making it mandatory for just that... so idk. It's a good idea, but I'm not certain it'd get used properly.

with the Friend Request that pretty much backfires whatever thing you had with the being friends and stuff.

But yeah, I thought it should be optional so the 90% wouldn't have to do that. :okay:

Well, I see how this could work
But again, sometimes it's more of an issue of "we can't do it" instead of "it isn't good"
We need to see if vb3 (if not vbulletin at all) can support this

Ah, yeah. If Rukario and his buddehs in the Ilex Forest (haha) have the time off from modding the 200,000 people or whatever on this site and making sure the servers don't crash I definitely want them to do this.

But if they don't, ah well. All is good, I can always send the complimentary PM myself instead of automating it.

I don't think it would be much use, 'cause you've already got the visitor messages that you can indeed ask the user, but then again... if the user doesn't have visitor messages turned on, then maybe this might not be such a bad idea.
