Frustration from a Fan...(includes spoilers)

They are doing that because 4kids told them to!

I highly doubt that 4Kids is telling the Japanese writers what to do concerning the show.

It's not surprising that people would consider Kanto a classic since... It was the first season. When we were all little pokemon dorks watching the show religiously.

Now, after thinking about it, I like the Hoenn season just as much as I liked the Kanto one, if not more. But that's just me.

The 4kids thing, whatever. I don't see why people are complaining about Pokemon, seeing as Pokemon is the best one 4kids seems to do, and the dub wasn't really that bad to begin with. OMG THIS DUB IS TEH EBIL, THEY CHANGE EVERYTHING!!!!

While some of their changes are unneccesary and slightly annoying, it's not a the end of the world. 4kids is trying to make money. Are they doing it? Obviously. They're not going to stop just because a few fans are pi**** about the changes that really aren't a big deal to begin with. If you don't like the dub, then don't watch it. It's that simple.

I mean, put some blame on the original writers too. Did they HAVE to listen to 4kids and make them ease on the Japanese jokes? I mean really, be mad at the original writers too, seeing as they're the ones listening to "4kids and they're devilish views".

I doubt 4kids told the writers to do something as dull as the Johto arc.

Hmm...thank you C K for diversifying this thread. You bring up a bunch of very good points too, though I don't totally agre with them, but I'm not going to do the whole thing where I strip apart your reply and counter it with annoying stuff.

For my opinion of 4Kids...I guess it makes a little sense. They made fans a million years ago and now they're abandoning them to catch the new little kids...darn people. It's like a hypnotist not waking up their subjects and letting them go as they mindcontrol some new ones. Know what I mean? I love metaphors.

i agree, in the movies, the actors voice is so lame (only 4ever and up) the old woman in the 4ever movie didnt even sound that old. they just use 5 people from the show over and over again. and j:WM is so wierd you could totally tell what butler is going to say. they dont make the voices dramatic enough "...im glad the last thing is see is you" is part of J:WM and diane is being pulled away by Fake groudon but when she says it, it sounds so borring and like she knows that she is going to be safe. May is so boring and the man who was selling the wishing star, didnt match his body. i wish that they would bring in more people for voices. also, i do miss the old episodes. *flashback* they all had a plot to it. recent episodes are quick and kind of hard to understand. My favorite was battle aboard the saint anne. that was good. now all the recent shows have narrowed down to 20 minutes. thats a third of pkmn glore cut off from the show

Silly, silly, silly. 4Kids may be screwing up the dub of Pokemon, but they can't tell the Japanese writers what to do.

The dubbing is perfectly fine, it's just that people need to quit putting such a high standard on it. It's amazing how many people have become such instant experts on dubbing all of a sudden... :P

Watch the Japenese versions and you'll soon see there is a major difference between them and the dubbed English versions..
Some storylines are changed to reflect a younger (and dumber?) US demographic. (that means ur little bro/sis)

Now, as far as 4Kids is concerned, their target market for Pokemon is the 6-10 yr old range. anything they get outside of that is gravy.

And that's where the concept of cultural differences steps into place. Of course the material is going to be different. And yes, I have watched a few Japanese episodes, and as I've said before, there is nothing terrible fascinating or more "intellectual" about them. They cater to a totally different demographic. I enjoy the dubbed more, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit here and type out why I think the Japanese version sucks or doesn't suck (just for the record, it doesn't suck; just not my cup of tea). The comparisons people make are completely irrelevant.

I have "The Legend of Drantini" and "Misty and Luvdisc! Love Battle" On my computer...
It's interesting because The Legend is an old episode of Pokemon,(the kind we all love) and the Love Battle is the new kind of Pokemon (The one most of us hates)...and watching both of them...they're not different! Sure, the anime style has definintly changed, but the feeling is very similar. And The Legend is extra cool and mature because the guy had a gun and it's not suitable for little babies. The Love Battle can be comsidered slightly immature because of Brock's weird bowtie, and the kiddish lovey plot. This makes a prime example of what they represent. Mature Old, Immature young. But even so, they're not that different! They both give off the same feeling one would get while watching the old pokemon shows.

So after my analasys(sp), I have to say that 4Kids should take some of the blame for the new and annoying Pokmeon anime.

By dub, I didn't mean the dubbing, I meant the dub itself. By that, I mean that they lowered the quality level of the American version.

I'm going to resolve the dubbing issues here. There are episodes of Pokemon that would be downright confusing to the age category that WB gears it toward if the dub kept all of the Japanese jokes in it.

Not everyone has what I like to call 'been to Japan'.

That said, I stand by my original claim about who should dub the show. Those changes would probably suit the show even better than the current dub does.

Yes, May and Max, sorry May and Max fans, are just unbearable!

(Yes, I'm a little late on this but still) I agree... they are kinda bland and boring... not to start a riot or anything, but I kinda miss the old old old days when it was Ash, Brock, and Misty. Best friends forever..... o.0 that *sorta* kinda worked out.........
