Never watched YuyuHakusho, but I think it's unfair to compare two series which have about 15 years of time gap in between them.

I've heard really good things about YuYuHakusho despite never watching it. The premise sounds really cool. I'll have to come back to this if I ever get the chance to watch it.

It's unfair to compare because of the animation and the period of time.
If you were asking why I didn't watch YuyuHakusho is because I hardly get any free time for watching anime.

Right but I'm asking why.
Because if you're trying to assert that animation, or even anime for that matter, has gotten so much better or changed so much since the 80s and 90s I hate to break it to you fam but, the first 18 episodes of Ranma 1/2 still look better than the entirety of Saekano.
