The thought occurred to me that it would be pretty cool if Pokemon could fuse together for a short period of time to over come an oopponents battling strength or maybe eliminate a weakness. Kinda got the idea from Dragonball Z XD (if you couldn't tell from the title).

I'd personally like to fuse some Pokemon togther. Maybe an Infernape and a Pidgeot? I think that'd be pretty hot in my opinion. A flaming flying Pokemon with Kung Fu action!

    Your thoughts?

I don't know where you've been, but pokemon have been fusing for years. I found a how-to with a few second search on Google Images.

^ The OP isn't talking about spriting. Either that, or your post was a weak attempt at humour. :(

The idea is terminally flawed - if there were no restrictions on what could fuse with what there would be well over 200,000 possible combinations - how on Earth would that level of spriting be possible?

I was waiting for someone to correct me like that^ before finishing my thought. 'tis all.

My first post should give away my views on fusions. It's a silly idea because the spriting community has ruined its 'coolness'. Seriously, what's cool about mixes anymore? I've got no issue with look-alike pokemon, though (Minin and Pikachu).

I don't follow Pokemon that extensively. I watch the anime rarely and really only play the games. I don't care about people hacking or modding or whatever to GBA roms. It was just a thought that occurred to me about making Pokemon a little bit different.

So there could be a lot of variations. I'm sure if it were to ever happen (which it probably won't) I'm sure they'd put on restrictions what kind of Pokemon or which Pokemon can fuse with what.

So shall we restrict it to fully-evolved Pokémon and non-Legendaries? That's 228 Pokémon, with over 52,000 combinations. If you restrict it further it becomes a mere side point with no real practical worth.

And even so, if that's the case, who's to decide what can fuse and what can't?

I'd say some ridiculous or combinations that wouldn't work. For instance, Hippowdon is a BIG Pokemon. Fusing it with a small flying type would do nothing for it.

Also, maybe fusing together similar Pokemon would be restricted as it would be pretty redundant (even if they are used completely different). So that'd narrow it down pretty far. *shrugs*

Let's take the DBZ model like he said--in DBZ, you have to have similar body types (is familial relations another stipulation? It's been a while).

I don't think this would work very well except for, possibly, the Humanshape egg group. Lucario and Medicham could work under those conditions, but the result would be...unimpressive. I'm not gonna lie: Arcanine gaining a fiercer visage from Manectric would be kinda sweet. I can also see some Bug types making sinister combinations. I'd buy a PinsirXHeracross cross, but...who in their right mind would carry both on their teams at once?

Fusion could be cool. I would like to see the powers of Mewtwo and Magikarp combine into something awesome. As mentioned earlier, creating all the sprites for the many possible combinations of pokemon would be a nightmare. They could possibly create a fusion pokemon that allows fusion with certain pokemon. This would limit the amount of sprites they'd have to make and would be pretty cool. Pokemon already has some forms of teaming up that aren't fusion, like assist and helping hand in double battles.

I don't think I would like pokemon Fusion.
I like haveing different pokemon on my team
so when one pokemon can't defeat a certain
type I have a back up. You would lose some
    stradegy by using Fusion.

IDK...It would start to get confusing if we had that many options. I like how it is now. There isn't anything i would really change about the pokemon games
