Game Cartridges

Did you like the fancy cartridges?

  • They were pointless; I'm glad they're plain black now.

Am I the only one disappointed that they don't do the custom cartridges anymore? I was almost sad when I opened pearl and saw that it didn't have a pretty, pinkish-white, pearly cartridge. And now with Gold & Silver being remade, I'm guessing they won't, either, which I find incredibly disappointing. Gold & Silver had some of the prettiest cartridges ever. :(

hmmmm you do have a point, because I just looked it up right now, but come to think of it, really didn't matter to me. Maybe they wanted to but didn't really matter to them since the sticker is that small

Ha, I didn't even think about this but you definitely have a point. Those were really nifty.

I always thought that it was because the DS carts are manufactured differently than older Game Boy carts, making it impossible to give them a colored casing.

...please don't tell me that I'm just in denial. D:

I almost cried when I saw Diamond and Pearl. They automatically lost cool points right then and there for that one reason.

In Japan, they weren't colour-coded at first.

Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow had the standard Grey Cartridges

Gold and Silver had the "Hybrid" Black Cartidges

Crystal was the first game in Japan to be Colour-Coded. The Only Major difference it had with the international version is that a Picture of Suicune's Headpiece was embeded into the back.

The Entire 3rd Gen was Colour-coded in Japan, like the international release

Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were grey like the international releases BUT they had Holographic Stickers on them instead of the dull ones the international versions have.

So in reality, they're going back to what they originally did in the first place, and that is use the regular mass-produced colour.

I dont know why but the coloured cartridges were one of those things that made pokemon pokemon. Almost as if the game was saying "im to awesome for normal colours play meeeeee" So yeah I miss 'em :(

I didn't read it, I normaly just read the first topic then post a response

I loved the old coloured cartridges..
Diamond and Pearl made me dissapointed and made it unappealing to me. ]:

I loved them because if you saw someone else playing a handhelp, you immediately knew they were playing pokémon, and what version.
and then you could battle if they saw you with your handheld and your cartridge ^^

Maybe thats me just being a wierd, very social person XD

But I did love them, Ruby was my favourite cartridge.. :(

    Same here </3
    I miss the color coded cartriges D;
I wish they still did them, they were pretty :/

I sorta feel this way too. It made them so much more fun. XD

Does anyone ever read my posts, or is it a hidden rule in the forum to skip over them purposely just to spite me?
Uh, the thread was asking if you liked/missed the pretty carts, not why they don't have them. There's not really any reason anyone should've responded to it. XD

They were nice back then, but recently you can't even see the cartridge when you play, so I don't really mind.

While a cartridge is a cartridge, and it's the game that really counts, I liked them simply because of the charm and recognition you get when you see the shiny coloured game and think "ahh, those were the days". And I reckon that they could actually bring back the coloured carts, it should be easy enough.

The entire reason I went back to pokémon after losing my Leaf Green was when I heard that Porygon got yet another evolution. I was immediately all "Stop the presses!", and I eagerly flew in to get my new game when I opened up the package...Disappointment flew at me. They were so gray, cold, and dull, almost lifeless....

I don't really care what the game cartridges looked like for me it was more about the game.

I don't think it matters, you can't even see the cartridge when you play unless you were using a gb/c one in a gba.
