Ah, darn. I wanted to see what KM posted :(

Anyway, any other objections to the maze topic?

yeah....just go ahead and ignore me
*laughing my head off

o....my bad

srry:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:)

Topic 1: You are a trainer named ________ who lives in ________ town. The professor in your town discovered a tear in space/time/dimension. You are visiting his lab one day to chose your first pkmn. You chose _______. After you chose it, the prof's experiment goes wrong, and he accidentally warps you into our society. The rest of the game is up to you :)

Topic 2: Make a 3D maze game. Please include a image file in .jpg, .bmp, .png, or .gif of a layout of your maze so we can sucessfully complete it.

Is this official? Any objections? ... Speak now or forever hold your peace!

The topics are put up as guidlines as to make your game, just so the games have some theme in common. If you create a totally kick *beep* game that blows everything away because what you based it on is different than the topic, it's not fair to everyone else. So, I tried to keep the topics open ended to give you flexibility, but keep it organized and fair at the same time.

If you think you have a better idea though, lets hear it!

Umm... Darkmage.. You kind of changed my idea.. Now I can't do my plotline. Mine has nothing to do with warping into other people's society.. You are kind of making up their storyline for them. You can't really build lots of different games upon that.
Nevermind I will make my own thead for my game.

Yeah, I know. Yours was a little too... clich?. Or was that santadidits? I used the same format with the blanks and leaving the rest of the game open ended. I just gave the premise, and you can do whatever you want from there.

Okay, here was Meerkat's idea.

Professor ___________ needs to see you in his/her lab when the game starts.. Something is very wrong.. You go and see him/her and he/she tells you that _____________ and it's up to you to ____________.

I took the liberty to insert an extra blank :) Does everyone prefer that over what I have now?

Hmm...That gives me an idea. I'll have to trash my mini game project though.
Nevermind that. I'll start after my exams are over.

I've reviewed this whole topic and couldn't find this information so I'll just ask it here. When can we begin work on this project, and when do we have to be finished by?

EDIT: Another question. Can this project be a team effort, or does it have to be solo work? I plan to work solo, but someone was bound to ask about teams/groups at some point so I might as well ask now.

And actually, I want to comment on idea one. Merging Pokemon, with its very unique graphics and the 'normal' world (whose chipsets and Charsets would look VERY different) would be incredibly difficult, and only those people that are VERY good at making Chipsets would be able to do very much with it.

I think the whole alternate dimmension thing should be scrapped, but maybe have the Professors experiment cause things all over your world (all MUST be custom contenents) to go haywire, and you have to set it right.

This is still a topic that knows where it has to go, but the open endedness of it can realy show off the creators origonality. Each crisis would be different, on each different contenent, with different solutions in each game. Open ended, allowing plenty of origonality, but still narrow enough in topic for them all to be able to be judged equally. I think this works better than the origonal topic... but maybe it's just me.

There's my two cents, chatwithca later.

Ok is it just me or does this seem to be moving along a bit too slowly? Alright we need to get a time limit, does everyone agree? Something reasonable, not just like a week.
Also DM, you need to get that site moving along.. Nothing has happened to it since you started it. I believe the provisional period is now over and you are free to set up the "submit you game" thing now. Can you put a certain format to it? Because I want to have a webpage with my game. On your website you should have to say that the game is for the PokeCommunity Game Makers Competition 2004. You should do up a little 3d graphic of the award or something and then they can put it in they're Sig's.

Alright that should be well enough to get this thread up and running again, what do you think?

Well, I agree. Although I don't see many people who'd like to compete yet,
I'm sure there'll be more when this thing starts. Also, we should try and get
this finished before Krazy leaves, don't you think?

You don't have to fuss over me :)
I will try to finish my game before I leave and tell Dark Mage the website so that (If games cannot be posted before the competition finishes) Mine can still be submitted :D

Yeah Daegon, where are all the competitors..? Don't be afraid to join in everyone, the important thing is to try and have a good time doing it. I am competing to show everyone the complete capabilities or rm2k3, maybe some people will get a new idea for an rm2k3 game from some of my coding..
By the way everyone, my source coding will be officially up for grabs.. This = you will be able to take as much coding from my game as you want, just give credit where due.

In honor of KM and his leaving and all, let's do his word for word :)

OFFICIAL TOPICS:
1) Professor ___________ needs to see you in his/her lab when the game starts.. Something is very wrong.. You go and see him/her and he/she tells you that _____________ and it's up to you to ____________.

2) Make a 3D maze game. Please include a image file in .jpg, .bmp, .png, or .gif of a layout of your maze so we can sucessfully complete it.

Okay, that's it! It's official! The award graphic will come when I have time to make it, and I'll update the site ASAP

DEADLINE: Your games will be due in 2 months time, approx. 60 days. The due date will be January 10th 2005. (somewhat of a randomly selected date ;)) You know the rules :D

I feel special lol.. Aright, let's get to it.. (Even though I have about a week or so to get ready and stuff lol)
Should we have a list of people participating? I am not sure, this is the first competition I have participated in (over the internet) :D

I think it's better not to have that sort of list. We could get people trying to enter
during the time and it'll only mean more time to redo the lists. Of course, a list would
be practical on the due date.
