3rd Gen GameBoy Micro? Global Trade Centre?

Has anyone managed to go online with a GameBoy Micro and trade pokemon using the Global Trade Centre?

Also if your saved game disappears, does it usually mean the battery in the cartridge has ran out?

Would my saved game be there after i replace the battery in the catridge?

Wait, what? The GTS is only in D/P/Pt... Unless you mean the union and link cable rooms...
If so, a GBM can't enter the Union Room, as the wireless adapter won't fit. For the link room, you'll need to get a link cable adapter or something.

As for the saved game problem, in GBA games, that's usually the sign of a pirated game cartridge. If you're playing R/S/E, the cartridge should be a transparent dark red/blue/green, while FR/LG are solid red and green. If the cartridge is grey or black, it's a fake. GBA games use flash memory to save, which doesn't need a battery.

so 100% sure that there is flash memory in the GBA cartridges?

coz im hoping to get another real copy of the game.

Yeah, some people have had their battery run out without losing data (it just means that the clock doesn't work). Make sure that the game you get is real; it should have a coloured cartridge and a sharply-printed label. Also, if when you start up the game it says 'The game can be played', it means it's a fake without the battery (the real message is something like 'The internal battery has run dry. The game can be played, but time-based events will no longer occur.').

ok sweet. i got a real one.. i got leaf green this time, instead of firered. for Magmar :D

- writes nintendo on the actual chip wen u look up the slit
- green cartridge case
- hologramish print on catridge

ill probably still pop in a new battery for the firered to see if the data file is in tact.
btw anyone who lives in Australia, go over to your nearest Game Traders and say you bought ur GB/GBA game there and they will replace the battery inside it for free.

if your going to do it urself, i recommend a soldering iron.

I bought a gold and crystal game on eBay awhile ago and the crystal one was normal... but the gold one had a gray cartridge... is it a fake too?

the real pokemon gold cartridge is actually Gold. so most likely its a fake.

and the real crystal cartridge is like a see through baby blue color with glitter.

Interestingly, the Fake Japanese Pokemon Games are Harder to spot:

-Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow had the standard Grey Cartridges
-Gold and Silver had the Black "Hybrid" Cartridges

Crystal was the first Japanese Pokemon game to have a colour-coded cartridge.
