An translated version of a gamefreak twitter post was posted to pokememes. It reads: we know some fans are unhappy with the amount of new pokemon this generation. Don't worry though, we have many more surprises in store. I don't know if this is true or not but it seems to be taken as real. Here is the picture's link:

Your thoughts? Would you be ok with dlc pokemon?

Not sure how legit that translation is, smells kinda fishy.

That said I wouldn't be that surprised if they released free dlc pokemon. We didn't see mega evolutions coming after all so anything could happen.

I think they've already said they weren't doing DLC, and all the comments on that site are saying this is fake anyways.

They said they weren't releasing balance updates, not that there would be no dlc.

SpokeyDokey, that's true. I had already known that....but thinking about it now that's a lot of mystery gift slots.

No, they had an interview with one of the big gaming websites where they said they weren't interested in doing DLC nor that they had any plans for it; that they like shipping a 'whole product' rather than making the customers feel like they've gotten an incomplete game.

The quote if I recall correctly was they won't be doing paid DLC, that doesn't mean we can't see free DLC though. Also there is 24 slots in MG, so maybe that does mean something.

I don't think we'll be getting DLC Pokemon through the Mystery Gift boxes. There's a ton, sure... but there's also a good amount of Pokemon that aren't in the game, and then there's probably also all the special event ones, as well as probably the one or two 'unreleased' Legendary Pokemon.

There won't be "DLC" of any kind by Gamefreak. Both Junichi Matsuda and the President of TPC said they weren't going to do those types of items for the games. Only what we have programmed is what we'll get. Paid or Free (Nintendo wouldn't do many free DLCs either. They'll give us special free trial DLC periods like they did for PMD but after that time we'd have to pay.)

Everyone would buy them during the free period though, so that is not much of a problem. Anyway we may get these mysterygifts to work as dlc though.

The problem with this is that it is completely ambiguous. They could have stuff programmed into the game that is only unlocked with a code or special event. To me, that is DLC regardless of what it really is. Torchic, for example, I consider DLC.

Its not considered DLC by officials though. Based on base definition and semantics its associated with it, but DLC is content not originally found in the original game that adds to the story or incorporates another story into it. Pokemon has always had its core secrets programmed into the game and if you could hack into it you would not need to wait for the gifts to unlock them as you'd be able to do so yourself through game manipulation.

Nothing we've gotten were ever called DLC with exception to PMD add ons which weren't made by Gamefreak and is the reason TPC most likely doesn't want to do DLC for the main titles.

Mystery Gift is not DLC content.

People, you don't need DLC for hidden pokemon, it's common to have pokemon that are inaccessible without events in the game from the start. Victini anyone? Seriously, if they did DLC it would be more apps like the Transporter and patches for serious glitches, Game Freak doesn't like the notion of actual DLC for Pokemon. It would not surprise me if there are a hundred hidden pokemon in the game that require online events and such to get, and it makes sense as well as sounds like a lot of fun.

probably, i would expect so because of gen 4 darkrai, shaman, and arceus, who didnt make it into the official guide, plus i believe only 2 legendaries have been found.
