It's obvious people don't wish to purchase games that are small minigames over the internet, things such as pong aren't bought much either because there's free versions.

But what if you didn't have to buy a game, but instead for $5 you got a "Games pass" which allowed you to download several games of different genres and such.

Would you purchase one if there was around 7 games(1 being long the rest really short)
    Would you refer your friends?
Would you even bother looking at the site?

No, because with 7 bucks, I can get a decent game on PSN

It would totally depend on the games quality.
For example: I wouldn't pay more than 5$ for Pokemon Raptor. (Not saying Raptor is a bad game, it's the opposite)

I would pay 5$ for a game, if it's worth it, but free games are always better, xP

    Cheerz~

Well, games would vary, there may be stuff like a short zelda styled game, and a 3D guitar hero clone, but I couldn't sell a pokémon game thats illegal :3

    EDIT:
and it's $5 for every game on the website, not just one, so your paying for 20 games basically.

As Time said, it would depend on the quality of the games. $5.00 for a Zelda clone with only one dungeon? No thanks. But $5.00 for a Zelda clone with six dungeons, a decent amount of items, and it plays well? I would probably consider it. Now, I have never played anything on your site, but I'm just using this hypothetical situation as an example.

To be honest, I think individual pricing on games is a bit better, though. The game pass thing seems like you pay more for the game you want to download, and you get a bunch of small ones that you'll never play. While yes, you would probably get more money this way, you would also drive away potential customers. If every game was available with this pass, it could be decent. Either way, demos would have to be available.

Ever had a look at the games site Nitrome? All of the games on their are quite addictive but not really worth, say, £5. A good way for them to make some money would be a monthly subscription were you would pay £2 (or $) to get access to their newest games a month in advance. And previews, wallpapers etc could be offered too.
If your game website is that good I think it would be a much greater option.

By the way, just clicked on the link in your sig and it said html not found...

For some reason it's linking to my website as a subdirectory, ill just remove it from my sig lol. Thanks for the feedback!

urrrhmm.. wait.. You can't sell Pokémon because it's copyrighted..
Zelda and Gutar Hero(especially) are very famous and are obviously copyrighted, so.. you probably couldn't sell those either. :o Zelda styled, well.. I guess that's ok, but their scripts are copyrighted, I'm sure. So I guess it could be the same style(erm.. unless that's copyrighted XD) but you'd have to make the scripts yourself.
Oh well. That's not the point.

Whether I'd buy one for 5 bucks really depends. Usually, games cost more than that, so the quality would have to be kinda.. bad. (that's what I think, at least)

If you wanna sell games, they gotta be yours and/or your company's idea. Or else you shall be sued. :/

Oh no, I believe I said "short zelda styled game, and a 3D guitar hero clone, but I couldn't sell a pokémon game thats illegal"

A zelda styled game, that isn't a fangame.
A 3D guitar hero clone, thats not guitar hero, its basically like me making my own version of rockband(again NOT rockband, it would be different)
and that I couldn't sell pokémon games, I am well aware of copyrights ^_^

The games would be made in GM so of course there would be scripting lol but I know GML pretty well enough to make all these games.

Just be careful when you are making the games. Don't make them too much like their originals.

I think GM has some licensing issues, unless you have the Pro version LEGALLY, you can't distribute it for money

I do have the pro version legally

PEOPLE, I UNDERSTAND ALL THE LAWS AND BASICS -.- no need to repeat them.

I think I know what your trying to do, you wanna make and sell a game, but games like pokemon and zelda are copyrighted and by law you cannot sell them so your trying to sell a pass for people to download them and your making money and since they didn't actually buy the game your safe from any lawsuit... Well if this is correct, I still believe your breaking the law and IF your site is reported you will be required to take down the site and return whatever money you've recieved to the rightful owner.

Not everyone has a Playstation 3 or Portable.

Did you read anything in this thread? I mean, come on... He's already stated he gets the concept of lawsuits, and doesn't need anyone else to repeat them.

And besides, he's not going to make a fan game, clone, or anything like that. He's said he's going to try and make a similar game. Did Nintendo sue Bandai over Digimon? No. Just because a company makes a game doesn't mean they own the basic context of the idea.

Yes I read every post and I didnt mention any laws I simply stated a fact while trying to explain what I was saying. I dont like the way you came at my reply either. No Nintendo did not but Aside from Mon and the capturing of monsters how are they alike? And if he wants to use the basic concepts from games like zelda and pokemon to create an entirely different game, one which he or anyone he's working with created all content for why not just sell the game itself?

But if he uses graphics that someone else has copyrighted he can't so he's suggesting a way around that law.

I can make a zelda clone, but it would be different, yes the difference of pokémon and digimon, plot graphics, music, and basic gameplay.(and stuff I may have left out) this isn't a debate about laws, but instead would you purchase the pass if it was available PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC

I wouldn't say 'clone' if i were you. But I'm not gonna get back into the copyright stuff, you've gotten enough. I'm guessing that you mean 'clone' as in.. erm.. alike, not exact(sort of like Okami to Legend of Zelda.. they are very alike in gameplay style, right?)

Well for 5 bucks, to get 7 games.. They would have to be.. really, really.. bad. I mean, 5 bucks for seven games? They're each worth less than 1 dollar. :/ But anyway, that's a good idea. Though if your ever really gonna do this, you should make the games before making prices. I guess it depends on how long it takes to make.

part A:Yes, I mean not exactly alike.

part B:I want the price cheap enough so that it's a good deal, if the price is too low and sounds too good to be true then that seems very BAD, maybe if the pass ran out? Would that seem more legit? Or rather it cost more(because I feel that taking purchased games away is sorta cruel lol)

If the games are of good enough quality.. and I have the time to play them, yes i would be totally up for that idea.

Kingcharizard: Shutup! He's not using anyone elses graphics. He's making his own games from scratch, but with similarity's to those other games. You have no clue what you're talking about -_-

Atomic, be nice to king cahrizard, it was frustrating but he gets it and he was only helping.

But how did you become king of the charizards?! XD

$10 seems pricey for what I have in mind of ideas :/

Also if I thought about having things like achievements, and a game card you put in your sig which would
1)Show your latest achievement, and achievements earned in total(amount)
    2.Link to the website XD

Also I don't know much about web design unfortunately so the website would be more or less a forum, a news feed, and the pages for downloading the games.
