    So how many people seem to feel that they go through gaming "phases?"

    That is to say, you seem to realize that for the past few months (or years, or weeks, or whatever) that you have been mainly playing games of a certain series? For example, recently, I seem to have been in a Pokemon phase, and have played pretty much only Pokemon SoulSilver and Leafgreen and related games, with the occasional break for Super Smash Bros Brawl (in which I either play as Pikachu or Pokemon Trainer :D) Before that, I seemed to be in a Zelda Phase, playing A Link to the Past and Twilight Princess and reading about various games. Also, when spending time online, I seem to do a lot of reading (Mainly on TvTropes, but also GameFaqs, etc) based on what games I am playing, so this creates in my mind the feeling of a "phase" that I am going through.

    So my question is, do any of you notice a pattern in your gaming habits? Or do you seem to play a variety of games and have no real pattern? Or is it just me? :)

    There could be patterns sometimes...
    Most of the times, after I play one game, I don't necessarily switch to another game from the same franchise.
    However, I did play Spirit Tracks as soon as I was finished with Link to the Past, so there could be a weak connection.

    I'll commonly phase through genres... like for a long while all I really felt like bothering with were casual games. (I'm still partially stuck in one, since I'll be playing an "epic" game and then take a 6 hour break for a puzzle game or something.)

    I'll get stuck in a fandom for a game pretty hardcore sometimes so that it'll feel like all I eat/sleep/breathe/know is that game (or its series), like Kingdom Hearts has basically been since 2006, but it's rarely all I'm playing unless I intentionally sit down to play several games in a series. xD;

    all of my hobbies go through phases. it usually goes Magic: the Gathering ---> Halo 3 ----> Pokemon/other stuff

    Yeah, I'll do that for genres too, like I went through a Platforming phase where I pretty much only played Super Mario Bros for a few months, and then it was like, one day, I just decided to play Zelda, and that ended my Mario streak. :P But for me, it seems to always be a series rather than a genre as a whole.

    Yeah, I do this. A lot.

    However, it's a cycle, which makes buying games with replay value totally worth it. :D

    I also find it hard to find a game I like...

    But, like Aeon said, all of my hobbies go through phases. If you've actually known me online long enough, you could VERY EASILY tell whan anime and genre I'm into. :D

    I ALWAYS go through gaming phases. Currently I'm going through a Pokémon phase (playing from the 1st Generation to 4th ._____.), and I just recently finished a Final Fantasy phase. I think next will be a Mario phase xD;

    I'll play whatever, but sometimes one game might hook me more than another and I'll forget everything else I'm playing and just play that one. Happened with Mother 3...and still happening, I guess. I'm replaying despite having beaten it just a week or so ago.

    Sometimes I go into series phases. I've gone back to back with Zelda titles. Last fall I played through all the 2D Marios. I just came off of a bunch of Donkey Kong

    Not really.
    I'm pretty much stuck on Call of Duty/Halo and Whatever decent RPG happens to come out.
