Gardenia Alter-ego

Is it just me, or is there a very striking similarity between the Galactic Commander Mars, and Gardenia the Gym leader? It almost looks like they're the same person, but with different hair. Kinda like a split personality maybe?.. (Conspiracy!!)

LOLL sorry but I have no idea how you got to that conclusion.. They look nothing alike to me :o

I do not see what you mean at all. The only similarity is being human and the skin tone. The eye colors are different, eye shape is differentthe nose is even different. I don't think these two images are enough to take this theory seriously.

Eyes and hair are a simple cosmetic thing that can be changed easily. I'm not saying they're the same person, but it leaves open a theory that makes the pokemon series and discussions so interesting by questioning it.

Well, have you ever seen Mars and Gardenia in the same room? Are they both not eccentric?

After a quick search, it looks like Gardenia has actually battled against Mars in the manga, so one definitely isn't the alter-ego of the other. Other than some trivial similarities, there isn't really anything that would make me believe that they're the same person, anyway. I mean, it's a decent theory (better than some others I've seen before), but who knows, maybe they could be distantly related or something?

Some aspects, yes. However, eye shape cannot be as easily changed, and as far as I can tell, they have two distinct and different eye shapes, at least in anime canon.

Plus, as previously mentioned, they actually battle in Pokemon Specials/Pokemon Adventure.

And eccentric is par for the course in Pokemon. Kids won't stay interested in the characters otherwise, haha.

The manga can lie too though.

In the battle with Black Fog, it described Sabrina as docile, shy and timid. Comparing that with the anime it's the total opposite. I believe the anime and manga run parallel to each other.

Anime and manga tend to be totally different in storylines and characterization. Manga Sailor Moon was a space epic, but the anime Sailor Moon is a monster-of-the-week cheese fest. The characterization of Sabrina changing from manga to anime is not suprising at all and can't really be considered lying because it's in a totally different story. (In the games Sabrina was docile but not shy or timid, and she wasn't a horrifying person either.)

On topic though, nah, the two aren't even that alike looks wise. The hair is different, the eyes are different in shape and color, and she's way too dang skinny. Not to mention she actually values her Pokemon and likes totally different types from Mars (grass vs normal/poison).
