Was anyone besides me really impressed with the way they portrayed Gardenia in the anime? She's such a unique gymleader, a total psycho(in a good-kinda way)! XD

I don't think I've laughed so much in a while, many of the new characters have come off as pretty bland so she was a nice surprise!

The only problem I have is her english voice actor(and I usually don't have a problem with the english VAs..), she doesn't put enough into it.

I know it's unlikely, but I really hope she shows up again in future episodes! :)

I have yet to see the Dubbed of any episodes with Gardenia in them. I don't have the necessary channel to watch them sadly. But from the Japanese episodes I have seen with her in them I really enjoyed that character. I was actually re-watching those particular episodes earlier today to just watch her reactions to various of the 'grass' Pokémon. XD

I do have to agree with you to a point though on the "many of the new characters have come off as pretty bland". This is most likely my own personal opinion, but I actually like many of the new characters that only show up once or twice. I feel like we are getting more out of them then is let on. In previous 'seasons,' the character would only show up with a problem and the heroes would help. Now the same thing happens, but the problem is normally told in a way in which we learn more about the individual character.

Of course, like I stated before, I'm only watching the Japanese episodes right now, so I have no idea what they are saying. All of my 'speculation' in the previous paragraph is based on what I see.

Thanks for the quite interesting topic though. I enjoyed typing this post.

I have to say that Gardenia is my fave new gym leader. I mean she was so coolies with how she just fell in love with James's pokemon. That was so coolies. Teeheehee I have to say that she was very active for a gym leader and glad that she has so much air time. That was coolies. Teeheehee

In the old days, the Kanto and even some of the Johto Gym Leaders had real personality. Even Hoenn's for the most part (the Frontier Brains, on the other hand, well...), but Gardenia has added something missing: a complete and utter fangirl spaz. What's even more interesting is how she became a recurring character, whereas, most GLs are here and gone (barring Brock, Misty and Giovanni, of course). Or that she wasn't introduced as an actual GL until much later ("Sphere of Influence" revealed her status). That and her recent appearance in the Japanese episodes, it makes you wonder what the writers will do with her next.

Or to give us hope about the later Sinnoh GLs (whenever that is).

    Teeheehee

Well I have to say that Gardenia is really intresting compare to the other gymleaders that for sure. Teeheehee still I never thought of her a a fangirl but that is way new. Teeheehee

Well I think the other Sinnoh Gym Leader can go both ways. I mean Roark wasn't just a regular introduce and battle gym leader but he wasn't really intresting compare to Gardenia. Still like in the past they may start out well but eventually we will go back to meet and battle episodes.

O.O I have a character in one of my non-Pokemon fanfics called Gardenia, who was an Arena-master in that fanfic! ^o^ Yay, but who is the (Pokemon) Gardenia you're mentioning and which type does she train? (need to catch up with D/P saga)

Gardenia is the Grass Type Gym Leader of Eterna city in Pokemon Diamond/Peral. I also found it interesting how Gardenia's character was portrayed thus far.

Kanto had some really interesting ones too, especially Sabrina(we rarely get characters like her anymore) Now that I think back they were the most interesting. Gardenia might be a sign they haven't lost all originality. I hope the rest are just as quirky and fun as she is.

Roark had me assuming the worst >_<
