    In the episode where Gary decides to battle Giovanni for the Earth badge, he says that he's already got 10 badges but wants to test how powerful the gym leader is. Does anyone know where he got 10 badges? Or has my hearing gone bad.

    I always wondered that too.That test that could get you into the pokemon leauge.They give you a badge and the Orange Islands.He could have went to there.

    I always figured this to be that in the Kanto region of the Anime, there must have been other Indigo Plateau qualifying gym leaders out there, but they only wanted to show Ash beating gym leaders from the original Game Boy games. This would be how Gary got 10 badges.

    I'm guessing he went to the orange league..OR..there could just be other badges availible to get ^^;

    There's more than 8 Gyms, yanno. o_o It's simply said that you need AT LEAST 8 badges to qualify. Satoshi followed the routes that gamers go through when playing RGBY. Shigeru was more than qualified already and simply just wanted another badge to prove he's worthy.

    It could have been a glitch in the Matrix... The Agents might have changed something...

    I believe that there are more than 8 Gyms in each Region in the Anime. I mean, there's many more towns and cities in the Anime, so it would only make sense. Gary just wanted to get 10 to prove that he was better than Ash.

    (And to win more money to pay his cheerleaders.)

    i always thought about on the episode where team rocket stole a whole bunch of badges, why there was different onces. And if you tihnk about it Ash took a badge from each city in the indigo region. And if the leaders had more then one, everyone couldn't have got a badge as soon as brock left.
    well its one of animes weird unsolvable mysteries, like what gender and lvl is pikachu?

    There was alot of other gyms. Nintendo had clarified that years ago at a little show talk. He said in all, there are 26gyms in Kanto. Earth Badge was the Prime gym and thats why Shigeru wanted to stop by here to check out this gym. For ash, he only get top the gyms clsest to the gym he is at. He won't go to Cutsora City for a Entique Badge(The one that was wierd in shape that Jessie taken.) as it is closer to the SeaForm Islands. Thats why that he went to Misty's Gym straight after his badge at Brocks becoz Cascade's nearer to his goal.

    I have no idea what you just said, KazuyaSato. (I don't know any Shigeru, unless that's the Japanese counterpart of Gary)

    Cutsora City? Entique Badge? (never heard of them) Assume that Ash had just beaten either Blaine at Cinnibar Island or Koga at Fuschia City. Wouldn't have Ash gone there next???

    ...

    Anyways, I agree with Elite Trainer Raven. There's bound to be more than 8 gyms in the Kanto Region. Assuming that it took a "year" to get all eight badges, I'd assume that Kanto would be a big place like all the other regions. According to Red, Blue, Yellow, and now FireRed and LeafGreen, the Fighting Dojo next to Sabrina's Gym was a gym at one point. (However, it seems that there's a limit to eight gyms as the Fighting Dojo lost its status...) I can only assume that the badges that Ash got were the tougher, possibly the more popular ones. I can't back it up since Ash had absolutely no clue of where he should have gone. Luckly, Misty and Brock tagged along.

    ...

    When did that talk happen?
