GBA-GBC question

Ok, let's say I wanted to trade or battle on Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver/Crystal, but wanted to use the GBA systems. Would the GBA link cable make this work, or would I only be able to use GB/GBC systems with a GB/GBC link cable?

I would think it would work... the link cables seem to always function the same, because just this morning I discovered the one I used to use to trade between my gameboy and gameboy color still worked between my GBA SP and gameboy color. so yeah, I see no reason why it wouldn't work.
