GBA SP help/mods?

A few weeks ago I somehow dropped my gba sp, and the frontlight on the screen has stopped working. I'm hoping that someone could give me some advice on how to fix it, and maybe some cool mods I could do to make my gameboy stand out a bit.

I've had this since 2003 when it initially came out, and the reason I don't just buy a newer one with the backlit screen is because I have so much nostalgia tied to it and I don't have the money to dish out when I could simply fix it. The screen itself still works, but the light does not work at all. I haven't opened it up, so internally I have no clue what's going on.
