Of all the genres of television programming these days, which ones are you sick and tired of and probably even want to go away entirely?
For one, I'm absolutely sick of the glut of reality courtroom shows (such as Judge Judy and The People's Court) that have saturated US first-run syndication for years. Seems like in most of these shows, the cases brought before the "presiding judge" featured in a show follow a common formula: Family members or roommates suing each other over unpaid rent, a wrecked/totaled car, neighbors suing over a dog bite, or "BFFs" suing one another over borrowed items that were supposed to be returned but never were, yada yada yada.
To make matters worse, these kind of shows dominate the weekday afternoon timeslots on FOX, CW, and MyNetworkTV affiliates alongside trashy "talk" shows such as Jerry Springer, Maury, and Steve Wilkos. Were it not for the federal war on childhood obesity that has all but banned advertising targeted towards children from over-the-air antenna television, these stations would probably still be airing cartoons during the afternoon instead of the garbage I just talked about. (I still would rather have cartoons broadcast in the mid-afternoon instead of women beating each other up and taking their clothes off on-camera.)
