Getting into TCG

I have a starter deck (HS Unleashed Steel Sentinel) and several packs, but I was wondering a couple things.

The first is whether pokemon can be interchangeable between different packs; i.e. can Roserade from Stormfront be attached to Roselia from Secret Wonders? Or even going way back, could pokemon cards from the early 2000's be mixed and matched with current day cards?

You can mix any cards with any cards, but for official tournaments, the rulings on what cards you can use are different. Just look up the "modified format" for Pokemon if you're gonna get into those.

Thanks, the modified format thing was just what I was looking for. I've been buying mostly DP packs, so I was wondering if I could still use them lol. ;)
