Well, I've returned to the challenge after a long time out. I beat Clair surprisingly easily - The E4 was a more difficult, especially with no ice-type moves for the dragons, but I managed to take them all down eventually - I had to use about 6 revives during the Lance battle, he insisted on using Fire Blast. Now I've done 5 of the gyms in Kanto, and this is my current team:

Well, after taking a little break from my challenge (lulz) I:
-Sailed to Kanto
-Defeated Lt.Surge with a bit of annoyance as I had no ground moves and Gligar didn't work too well.
-Caught Murkrow and trained him to level 35
-Swept Erika and Sabrina using Murkrow, was actually surprised it worked.
-Proceeded to fix the mess at the power plant
-Defeated Misty with little trouble (despite all her pogeys having ice beam O.O)
-Broke Janine's pitiful force in a flash due to Xatu's Psychic
-Jumpluff cleaned up Brock with Mega Drain :)
-Blaine was flooded by Mantine's Surf
-Blue, the only somewhat hard one, fell too, only taking out two of my pokemon with his gyarados.

The team is mid 50's and has been transferred to my holding game :P

Update:Took radio tower back from team rocket, beat suicune, got to ice cave, made it to blackthorn city, all my pokemon leveled up, bayleaf evolved into Meganium! Meganium learned strength, exeggutor learned egg bomb and rollout,

Chose Totodile, rushed to Cherrygrove, got the map card.
Went to Mr. Pokemon's house, got egg, Elm called me.
Went to Cherrygrove, beat rival, got to New Bark Town.
gave him the egg, talked to Mom, caught a Pidgey and Sentret. Trained to lvl 7 each.
Went through route 29, 30 and 31, beating the trainers. Went to Violet City.
Went to Sprout Tower, caught Rattata, trained to lvl 8. To be Continued.
