"Got Miltank?" Episode Discussion

Thanks much. Oddly enough, there was a major cut in this episode, involving the act of Miltank breastfeeding. Way to go, 4Kids.

I wouldn't blame them if they edited that. Imagine how mothers would react if they saw a Pokémon sucking on a Miltank utter. Personally, I wouldn't let my children watch that on TV whether it be a cartoon or not.

No, I don't blame 4Kids for editing it out, as to be on the safe side. However, on the list of things needing to be censored, breastfeeding doesn't bother me, if done right. It's not so bad, as it's from a Cow Pokemon, so it shouldn't make eyes melt. I'm just conveying my personal disappointment, is all. Interpret it as you will.

Of course, to an avid watcher of cartoons it wouldn't be so bad. Since Pokémon was just losing its steam at this point though, it's something that shouldn't be unexpected since breastfeeding, in all manner, is looked down upon on a show rated TV-Y7 FV.

Right. Plus, Kids WB was still in major censor mode in 2002, so there was an extra reason. It's a sorta, kinda taboo, so I don't blame 4Kids for doing it. In reflecting on it in 2009, it does make me wonder if CN would have done the same. Cable = lesser censoring standards, but I doubt it would have passed. Of course, I could be wrong.

Cartoon Network could've passed it since they air some killing and censored nudity for some of their shows. They're rated PG though even though there isn't a large difference between the two ratings. Even though at first, some scenes from various episodes from some of Cartoon Network's shows, most recently Total Drama Island, they added them in after a while. Compared to, say, 2005, Cartoon Network is more accepting of most content from foreign aquisitions but this is mainly based on their Canadian cartoons.

I always thought that scene they was cut looked kind of cute. I wouldn't feel uncomfortable if my younger brothers and sister saw it, I'm pretty sure they show animals suckling on the mother on young children's shows, although they're educational shows rather than cartoons ~
