Gotta Catch'em all is just for little kids, so they buy all the Pokemon stuff, and Pokemon earns a lot of money...

He doesn't really even have to catch each type to experience each type. I mean, he can experience psychic power if he owns a pokemon that's not a psychic type but knows a psychic attack. I personally don't see the difference.

Anyway, the phrase was obviously made to make kids want to get everything pok?mon. We all rememer the massive pok?mania that swept US and the world when the series first started to become really popular. The "catch" prahce (pardon the pun) worked.

If you enforce the idea that you've "got to catch them all" into the heads of your target audience, then the kids hearing and seeing that message will feel the need to catch them all. Thus, they go ou and get every toy, every coloring book, every game, every underwear with pok?mon on it, etc.

It's a marketing ploy, and a ****ed successful one. Tricky, too, because if you just look at in context of the show, you'd think it was just about Ash wanting to catch all the pok?mon, when in reality, it's an advertising trick to sell everything pok?mon.

Tch. Yeah! Come ta think of it actually, I don't find any reason for Ash ta catch ALL of them, yet that theme... hmm... I think it may've just been a marketing thing, since that was tha goal in tha pkmn games, but not in the anime... o.0

i think ''gotta catch em' all'' was just something that they brainwashed into the back of our heads by saying over and over again so that we would buy all their stuffed animals and video games. i personally think they should make a song for the army to sing called "gotta catch saddam" ha ha just kiddin...

Yeah I guess you are all right about him not catching too many pokemon. But he's seen a lot I believe to I guess add to his pokedex. You really can't catch them all in a a couple years anyways. Well at least in the show.
