Thank you! I use three programs in fact. PhotoScape , GIMP and PhotoFiltre.
Photoscape for text + adding Images on,etc
GIMP for the effects and
PhotoFiltre for Icons

Nice banner for starters, but a little plain, if you ask me. =o

Add some effects to it. =] You can uses brushes, c4ds, smudging, color effects, maybe. Test could also use some improvement, too. I mean, it's not bad, you're just starting. ^..^;​
