It was one of those games that me and my dad actually bonded with more than a decade ago where i would win races and he would design the car in our career mode savefile. Also it was a great experience also racing against him in good ol split screen.

Also for Psx owners who unfortunately didnt have mario cart, Crash Team Racing was also there so racing games were so hype back in the day.

Sadly ever since our psx broke down, me and my dad werent able to complete the car that we were working on years ago.

    ;(

I always liked Gran Turismo since I was a kid, the first one I played was Gran Turismo 2 on the PS1, but after I got the PS2 I had the 3 and 4 and the 5th version for the PS3.
The one I really spent the most hours on was the 4th one, clearly my favourite in my opinion because of some of its unique cars it had and for the graphics too at the time. I think it was also more challenging in a way, there are driving missions and some of them are really hard to complete, especially the last one. (pretty quick loading times were also cool ;) ) I still play it to this day with an emulator and I completed all the events except for some of the special conditions races.
I also played the 5th one, truly outstanding graphics and larger collection of cars and tracks, but for some reason it doesn't have that special place that the 4th version holds on my heart, don't get me wrong though... It's still a cool game.
Missed out on the 6th one because I didn't grab it. :/

Gran Turismo, eh? I used to play this game back when I played PSone as a kid, even though I played much more of its sequel, Gran Turismo 2. It was pretty enjoyable, especially the Simulation mode because of many choices of car brands to pick with, and also the fact that it includes the driving school as well.

I miss the original Gran Turismo, and it was one of the few racing games I actually spent hours playing as a kid. I remember always killing it with the light blue, 3-door Honda Civic in arcade mode, even though it was a C-ranked car, and anyone I played would always go with A-ranked. Never had the patience to unlock everything in simulation mode though, even though there were some pretty cool cars to pick up.

Gran Turismo 3 is the game that sparked my love for cars irl. Thanks to that game, I now spend most of my hard earned money on cars and parts.

It is also the only PS2 game my dad really got invested in. I remember him sitting on the couch next to me and cheering me on as I was racing. He would also play Endurance Races to help me unlock cool cars while I was away. He ended up losing interest when I unlocked F1 cars because "the game became too easy" :P. I've been wanting to re-do a playthrough of GT3 for quite some time now. Hopefully I'll be able to do it before the release of GT Sport.

Speaking of which, I'm fairly excited for GT Sport. Hopefully, the franchise will be able to get back on its feet. that's the game that'll make me buy a PSVR and a new Sim Wheel if it's any good!
