2nd Gen Graphics: How important are they?

I would say it depends on what you mean by "bad graphics". I don't consider G/S/C to be "bad" in terms of graphics; it was the generation. The fact that they're not as smooth and 3D as Diamond or Pearl is endearing. I agree with MartianOdditty, the most important things are the controls, the playability, so on and so forth.

Heh, usually when I make a topic in a forum, I try to reply to everyone in one post, but I can't right now. I don't have enough time(right now, probably will later), and there's too many posts. XD

I get what some of you are saying - Gameplay > Graphics. It justs seems to me that G/S/C is a retro generation, and just naturally belongs in it(the same way nobody has succeded in making a good remake of "Super Mario Bros."). Of course, I wouldn't mind if it got an excellent remake, like ShinyGold... it's just that I would go back to the original G/S/C for the retro feel.

Exactly! It's all about the retro. There's nothing more nostalgic than an old-school Pokemon game.

Graphics are almost unrequired as far as I care. Some great games were text-based: NO GRAPHICS.

I like to play ADOM occasionally. Check it out if you care to:

i think gameplay is more important than graphics and G/S/C beat R/S/E in both aspects. the only good thing about the new games is that you get your running shoes pretty early on in the game. no night and day, no telephone (replaced with pokenav/useless VS seeker) and no radio (you cant carry a TV around). IMO thats about half of the gameplay value GONE. compared to bad gameplay, graphics are a minor issue.

They don't really matter to me. I especially love playing Blue and Red versions, even if the graphics aren't good. But thinking about it, the graphics were good at one time! I liked the graphics when I bought Blue version when I was like, five years-old! I'm now currently plaing through Green Version on my gameboy, and the graphics REALLY suck. But the game is great and even though the pokemon look hideous, I can at least laugh at how bad they appear and still have fun playing it.

To tell you the truth, I don't really care much about graphics, it's really the storylines which interest me about the games.

So, I don't care about graphics at all.
