Here is where you discuss the long-awaited return to the Pewter City Gym and a showdown with our Rockets in yet another battle for the Rock-type Gym in "Grating Spaces".

    My review to come forthwith.

This soon?...My review will come in this spot once you rate the last episode....they're going a bit fast for you, huh?

...Eh, I'll go ahead and put it up now anyway:

The epsiode was relatively close to the original (based on the synopsis on Serebii), which was a nice surprise. I guess PUSA is really trying to keep it as similar as possible...

Of course, the highlight of this episode was the battle (when is it not?), but there were still some other fun parts, like Brock's reactions to the Gym and his parents (Side note: I'm guessing his dad was done by the same VA as Brock himself...which didn't strike me as good. The voice was okay for Brock, but for Flint, who had already been introduced to have a REAL gravely voice, it didn't click. Thank goodness he isn't a regular character :)). I also laughed a little when Brock greeted ALL of his siblings by name, my thoughts drifting off to both how many takes must have been done to get it right and to the similarity to Rudolph (On Forrest, on Tim, on Blitzer, on Cupid!)...

And the battle...well, you've got a Steelix sitting there against your Charizard, and what do you do? Spam any fire attacks you've got, like Jessie did. This was actually rather fun to watch, as they kinda ignored Ash as long as he wasn't fighting back. But, then Ash & Brock started double-teaming, TR lost their double-teaming, and everything fell apart. Brock never DID verbally invalidate their challenge, though, which is one of the few things I noticed was missing...

Oh, BTW, we know about the Steelix and Crobat, but any guesses where that Golem came from?

Yeppie. New episodes everyday is a bit hard. Still I guess it helps if I come to PC more often. Teeheehee

We been so luckily!!! Lately we been in a run of super good episodes!!!! Monday was a coolie Team Rocket episodes and today is another Team Rocket involvement episodes.

Brock's parents are funny. They were doing great before Ash and Friends came. The gym was a bit scary looking with all the roses that Team Rocket added.

Did anybody notice that Team Rocket referre to the boss as Giovanni instead as The Boss?

The battle was great too. It is nice to see Team Rocket battle with good pokemon. Too coolie. It only ashame that they began to lose once they started to argue.

That was funny that Team Rocket mention why they were recieveing so much funding. It seems as if they were being mistaken for Butch and Cassicy. Teeheeheeheehee

9/10!!!! I love to see Brock's family and Team Rocket doing well.

Oh, they're going way too fast for me. Heh. It will be quite a while before I can catch up. Anyway, I'm not up for a long review or a review, but I will comment that I'm curious to see the Rocket Delibird back now of all times and still no reference to the Rockets' debt to Giovanni. Either way, glad to know the writers haven't forgotten it, but it seems like a throwaway reference considering they did never play it up to any sort of fruition. It's a nice reference, don't get me wrong, but it's coming off as rather pointless to me.

On a completely immaterial note, anyone else noticed that Brock didn't note about the Mime Jr. on top of his Ludicolo's head when he first spoke to his parents? I'd be curious if a Pokemon I don't own is on the head of one of mine. Bah. Either way, it's a nice follow-up to the Brock Chronicles episode with the Gym's changing motifs (yet again) and Brock's parents' flakiness. Nice continuity there, just...lousy dub title.

And lastly, I think the Golem is his dad's? I mean, we did see it in the Chronicles episode after all. That's just my theory.

Um, first off, Team Rocket paid off their debt during the League Championships (I forget if it was Johto or Hoenn, but it was one of those...I'm reasonably sure it was Johto). I think the Delibird idea simply died out with it.

Second, yeah, I noticed that too...Brock should have at least been a BIT suspicious...or maybe he was blind from rage ;).

Lastly, I don't remember seeing a Golem in that episode...hmm...

I think Team Rocket did pay if off during the Johto Championship. It was from working all those jobs. Still they weren't as well off in money as we seen during Hoenn.

I was wondering that too why Brock didn't notice Mime Jr. but Ichi has a point. Maybe Brock was too upset to notice it. Still why not Ash and the rest of his friends didn't notice it.

Flint's Golem was in the episode. I think it was there when they showcase all of the rock pokemon and Brock's pokemon. I remember seeing it.

I'm just going to make a separate topic for the Delibird. Heh. Make it easier.

Anyway, to Reyna, Ash and co aren't exactly the most observant characters.

I was actually surprised with the Charizard as technically, the Rockets aren't usually allowed the starters (in all versions of canon excluding the TCG). Glad to see that's changing. But Aggron, not a shock given its ferocity and type would fit the Rockets rather well. (I think Giovanni has one in the FR/LG arc of Special). Either way, that's the third Steel type assigned to an anime Elite Rocket, I'm sensing a pattern. Heheh.

Well that is true. Ash and Friends aren't the most observant. Teeheeheehee

I didn't notice that. The Charizard part. I guess I was too caught up in the fact that Team Rocket were using good pokemon and were winning for a little bit. It is nice to see Team Rocket doing well in a battle espectally against Ash and Brock.

An interesting aside, I think it's odd that all the kids look like Flint but none of them look like their mother. Since this is a kids show, I'm not implying that anyone did anything wrong. its just an observation. Then again, my brothers and I looked more like our father than our mother.

Perhaps the next time Brock visits home, he should switch to decaf. Even though he was doing what he thought best, he has been rather harsh with his parents.

i havnt seen this episode yet it sounds interesting
