2nd Gen GSC Monotype Challenge

Well see so many Monotype/species challenges for the 3rd Generation Games, the occasional 4th Generation challenge...Why isn't there any for the 2nd Generation (Excluding Alakazam's Ultimate Monotype challenge)!?! I thought this would be a fun change of pace, as most people happen to love Johto (And claim it's their favorite region), and it could turn out pretty fun!

The Rules

1. Emulators are allowed
   
2. You must be able to catch your Pokemon before exited Ilex Forest (For those who like to use Headbutt on trees, your welcome :))
3. You may use your starter until you catch your first Pokemon of your type. Afterwards, using it is prohibited (Unless you want to use it as an HM Slave).
4. Speaking of which, 3 HM slaves maximum.
5. No using your HM slaves in your battles.
6. If it evolves into your type (AKA Dual Types), you can use it.
   
7. No hacking/glitching of any type.
8. If you choose Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Steel, or Dark, you will be allowed to trade 1 of these types over to your game at the earliest time available. If you can't trade, ignore rule 4 and you may insert ONE Pokemon of that type into the game onto the first route.
9. Legendary Pokemon are prohibited.
10. This is not a race, so you can take your time.
11. Updates are required. Frequently is best, but do your best on this.
12. Challenge is complete when Red is defeated.

Correct, there's no limit on the number of your type Pokemon you can have, only HM slaves are limited

I'll take on Normal type on Crystal, if that's okay.

Also, you seem to have left Dark off of the list. (Though it might have been intentional, since it's a long time before you can actually catch one.)

12/21 - Update #1
- Started game, chose girl character named Xoren.
- Picked Cyndaquil as my starter. (Because...well I always pick it. So adorable.)
- Got the Mystery Egg, got my Pokedex, beat my Rival (Kaz), and came back to Prof. Elm.

Now I'm just waiting until morning so I can catch the Pokemon I want (Sentret/Teddiursa/Spearow ; Of course, none of them are around at night. Bleh.) and then I'll train them up a bit before challenging Falkner.

Oh I'm using Crystal btw... here is my update

-Started game, chose boy character
-Went to Elms, chose Chikorita
-Went to Mr Pokémon's house and received Mystery Egg & pokédex
-Beat Rival (imaginatively named Rival)
-Handed Mystery Egg to Elm
-Caught Hoppip (Lvl 5)
-Went through Sprout Tower and got Flash

To do:
-Challenge Violet Gym
-Catch more pokémon

Team:

Hoppip Lvl 11
Chikorita Lvl 13

12/22 Update #2
- Caught a Sentret. (Level 3 Female), and a Spearow (Level 2 Male)
- After an HOUR AND A FLIPPING HALF of stumbling around the entrance to Dark Cave, I finally caught a Teddiursa. (Level 2 Male)
- Went into Violet, deposited my Cyndaquil (Level 9 Female) in the PC.
- Trained everyone up to level 10, then went to take on Falkner.
- Defeated Falkner and his two underlings at the Gym using my Teddiursa. (That hour and a half was so worth it.)
- Picked up the Mystery Egg from the assistant at the Pokemon Center.
- Beat up some monks, got the Flash HM.

Edit: After I posted this someone from my Pokefone called me with a water stone. I will evolve my Shellder ASAP

6th Badge:

I skipped 5th because it is too close to 5th badge. They are just a fly away. As you can see I traded my Chicorita for a much better HM Slave. Chicorita is in the box now. Time for a huge team rocket thing.....
