GTA San Andreas

Who's Jack Thompson? I haven't heard of him before.

Jack Thompson

As for the topic at hand: No. No I don't like San Andreas. Or any of the GTA games for that matter. They simply don't appeal to me, I find them annoyingly juvenile.

I knew someone like you would say that.

What is there not to like? Are you one of those rebels like Jack Thompson that want to ban the game?

The reality check is that video games these days that appeal people are stuff like San Andreas and Halo. There has to have some action for it to be fun. Tell me a video game that you like and I'll tell you if its a good game.

No, I don't want to ban the game. I'm firmly against video game censorship.

What I do like, however, is a game that does not rely on what I see as the lowest common denominators of society for its popularity. I believe that the GTA series has consistently done this.

As for you Halo example, I never said that Halo was a bad game. It's an example of a well-done FPS, although I found it repetitive after the third level or so.

Finally, why would I rely on you to tell me which games I like, or confirmation as to whether they're "good" or "bad?" Taste in gaming, as in all else is a matter of opinion. As our interests appear to diverge on gaming, it is hardly a worthwhile pursuit to seek your approval of the games I play.

But to the topic at hand, I don't think that the GTA series is BAD, per se. They're well-made games, and I respect that about them. I've played every iteteration since 2 for at least a while. I just didn't find anything there that appealed to me in terms of story.

I've played all 3 main GTA games for the PS2 and San Andreas is my personal fave, next to Vice City. Once GTA: SA came out, I went and got it!

I just like the fact that I can go jack a crotch rocket from some dude and ride off in Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas while listening to the awesome slection of music from the time the game was set in. I also liked Vice City a lot becuase it was set in the 80's! And I was born in the 80's. And the music back then RULED!

And about The Hot Coffee Mod... I got my copy right when it came out, so the mini-game is most likely on there. Only the newer versions don't have it.

Jack Thompson and Lieberman should focus their attention on U.S. problems, not game violence. If they try to mess with it, they are violating the first amendment!!
