GTS prank (don't feed the trolls)

So the story goes like this. Prof. Oak asked me to help him complete the pokedex, and I obliged. True to my promise, I went to the GTS to obtain Gen. I trade-evolvers (Machoke, etc.).

I put a Lv. 1 Trapinch on offer in exchange for a Kadabra. It worked out great. Next I put a Lv. 1 Trapinch on offer for a Haunter (I'm working on breeding super awesome Flygon, so I have a lot of Trapinch). I received the Haunter and it did not evolve... because it was holding an Everstone.

Was I mad? A little. But I was mostly sad that people feel the need to be so rude to one another. Has anyone else been the victim of GTS trolling?

i have been lucky and not had this happen to me, but yeah, that's just mean. I'd make sure the trainer is not on my friends list .... ever. Then I'd post on forums their name and what they did, let others know who they are. Not to be vindictive, that's just a bonus, but to warn other honest pokefans of this meanness and help prevent more victims.

Since this is more in regards to the games, I'm going to move this thread over to Pokemon Gaming Central.

As for myself, I can't say as I've ever been trolled like that over the GTS, though I have come across one or two Pokemon that were clearly hacked, that I released shortly after. I could've swore that the GTS told you if a Pokemon was holding an item though- better be extra careful next time!

    MOVED.

Its not really trolling. Not many people who go into the GTS want the Trade Evolving Pokemon to evolve when they get them. Some people are quite picky about that and you can see them complain on Trade specific site/forums. Its more proper ettiquite to do Trade evolutions with people you know than through GTS where People are looking for those specific Pokemon. So since the demand for the base forms are there, the people offering place Everstones onto the Pokemon.

Those people make little to no sense. You can breed them to get their pre-evolved forms, and to complete the dex you need the evolved forms as well, so it makes more sense to expect them to evolve when traded through the GTS. Gah, some people make no sense at all.

Its not usually for that...They just do not want them to evolve when they are traded for.

Indeed I should be more careful. It takes two to troll, I suppose.

I would agree with Xander that it's best to trade with someone you know in this situation. But at the same time, it seems to me that the cool part about trade-evolvers is having them evolve after being traded.

I had this happen to me once. I offered a Boldore for another one, only to be traded one holding an everstone. I was a little upset because I really wanted a Gigalith, but I quickly got over it and immediately started searching for another trade!

it has happened to me on pokemon Black 2, I put in an Boldore for an Gurrdurr any level and the person put on an everstone.

I got a clearly broken Kdabra who has evolved into a clearly evolved Alakazam (which i released 'cause im nice.).
The everstone trolling happened to me once on Pokemon Pearl. I gotta say some people have serious issues, trading me a japnese-nicknamed haunter with an everstone. Just cruel man! My machoke was perfect....im so sad i lost you Iggor!
