Gym Leader Flannery in Pkmn Ruby Help

    umm....im about to go into flannery's gym and i need some help with strategies.

    flannery's pokemon: Slugma lv. 26
    Slugma lv. 26
    Torkoal lv. 28

    my pokemon: Grovyle lv. 30
    Kirlia lv. 27
    Numel lv. 23
    Skarmory lv. 22

    what should i do? i mean i know that i would use numel for slugma, but torkoal is a hard pokemon to take down.....it has great defensive abilities and it has alot of endurance. on top of all of that, its a female that knows attract and all of my pkmn are male! i was thinking of using either numel again because of its ground type magnitude attack and its oblivious ability (prevents attraction), but i was thinking of using my Kirlia too....i dont know how good torkoal's SP stats are, and my Kirlia has amazing SPAtk and SPDef and combined with its Psychic attack could do some serious damage.....but i dont know what do you think?
     
    raise grovle to a sceptile
    use kirlia until it faints
    use numul until it faints.
    P.Swatch out for flannerys attreact all of her pokemon know it.

    why didnt you no that rubberbandman,kirlia will be creamed before it even has a chance.
     
    well my kirlia is at lv. 27 and evolves at lv. 30......i might evolve it before fighting flannery but i need to train skarmory and numel for extra backup when i face norman!

    Of course you do, use potions to heal yourself if you're low on health.

    Here, Pkmn Prodigy, use smogon for a quick comparison of Pokemon stats.

    Torkoal may have awesome Defense, but it's Special Defense isn't that great. Only base 70. However, Kirlia is pretty weak too, only base 65 Sp. Attack. However, once you evolve it, Gardevoir has an awesome 125 base Sp. Attack! Calm Mind up when you're facing the Slugmas since they won't do too much damage, then when she uses Torkoal, you'll be more than ready to take it on.

    Level up Numel abit becuase you have Magnitude. Dont let Grovyle even fight.

    Evolve Kirlia into Garvedior. Use calm mind like once or twice.

    I JUST BEAT FLANNERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! actually, grovyle was the one who defeated torkoal :P and i didnt evolve kirlia lol
     
    I beleive you find Geodude in this game.
     
    It decimates Flanery, but it's pointless now. If you had a Makuhita he would be useful vs Norman or Machoke/Machamp.
     
    That is why Swampert is the best starter in the game. That is also why you need to have a team that covers its weaknesses, and you certainly have a big one to Fire. That is quite ironic because Fire is not a great type to begin with.

    Anyways, your best bet would be to use Kirlia. It's STAB Psychic should take care of the pathetic Slugma rather easily, and a few hits on Torkoal should KO it, hopefully before it uses Attract. If it does, switch out to Numel (ugh). What I would do is hopefully you allowed your Kirlia to learn Calm Mind and Psychic. Use CM a few times against the weaker first Slugma (heal when needed) and then you can sweep through that whole team rather easily.

    The bad thing about Slaking though is Counter, and we all know how bad Counter is. :surprised:
