If you would like to join, choose a gym number, and then... uh, just join! If you would like to be the champion, you must battle all of the gym leaders, then the elite four. You may be any type of a leader that you want. You may take other pokemon out of your lineup while not in gym battle. I will pm all of you when we have a challenger. Yes you may have an even team without a specific type. Though if you are an elite four member, you may only have 1 or 2 specific types.

Are these battles going to be LV 50/100 all, are they single or double battles, and will the challanger of the gyms have to use the same team throughout each gym?

It would be level 50 battles for the first 8 gyms, then lv100s for the elite four. And yes, the challenger would have to use the same team, because when you fight the elite four, you can't change your team can you?
