[Other] Hacking Practice?

Hello! I'm new to the forums, and to Hacking, and was wondering how I would go about practicing... Can I join a current hack project and learn along with someone else? Would I try to just make my own (not really interested though) ?

I have ideas for hacks, but i'm not really interested carrying them through without partners, and I'm a quick learner on these sorts of things.

One idea is where the gym leaders have the same level pokemon as the strongest in your party, and a full party as well, like Brock's default is 12, but if you have a lvl 13 he has a FULL party of lvl 13 Rock-types. So, you would have to beat him with the pokemon you have available...

But how would you do something like that? and again, I wouldn't do it on my own as I'm way better when someone is relying on me, so I'd want a partner...

So, how would I go about practicing for all fields in Pokemon ROM hacking? (Scripts, tiles, sprites .etc) Or joining someone who'd be tolerant of my Newbie-ism, Or as much as a newbie as me?

Well, I'd read alot of tutorials in the Tutorial, Tools, and Resource. It'll give you knowledge in scripting, and all the things you need. If you are looking for work, then go to the team room and apply for a rom hack. Of you are accepted, then you pick up in others. Just make sure to aquire a certain skill in rom hacking beforehand(people usually want someone, a little familar with hacking). But I have confidence that you will :)

And just post here once you've done as the above has said. If you have questions, people will help you out. While you won't have a personal tutor, the hacking community is very helpful and will give you guidance and feedback with the learning process.
