Half Life 2

    Anyone ever played Half Life 2? I coudn't find a thread for it. I know it's pretty old but I just got it recently and can't put it down (because it's sitting on my desk,) so I was just wondering if anyone was still around who plays it
     
    I've played through Half Life 2 so many times I can't even count.

    It's probably the perfect game if such a thing existed.
     
    That's basically what the Half Life 2 "episodes" are supposed to be... But there's been no word about episode 3 or even if they're really doing anything with the next Half Life at this time. Episode 2's ending is heart breaking and I want to see what happens next. :x
     
    Oh hey, I was just asking about this yesterday, what excellent timing.

    I tried the demo out(Ravenholm). It seems like a horribly overrated FPS. What makes it so good?
     
    Ravenholm probably isn't the best representation of the entire game, it's much slower paced and most of it is pretty much there to show off different ways to use the gravity gun that you just got in the previous chapter. HL2 tells an interesting narrative, and has very good presentation, decent gunplay although probably not the best when compared to more modern shooters, fun weapons, the gravity gun was a pretty big deal back when the game came out, well written characters. My favorite part is probably the Nova Prospekt chapters, and the coast chapter leading up to it.
     
    Hmm, I have this game on my computer but haven't been playing since January or so. I think I had finished that desert mission with all these insects and then got distracted. Despite my hiatus, I do remember it as an enjoyable game, except for maybe that part when i kept respawning in some dark mine just to be instantly killed by a nearby poison headcrab and one of its friends, that situation was just asinine. I'll get around to finishing it and the episodes eventually. Maybe this summer.
     
    funny you bring it up now. I went to gamestop like a week ago to buy the orange box with halflife 2 and a few other games but it was sold out. I gotta wait to get my new debit card since i had to cancel it because of the whole sony ordeal then I'll order one from amazon.
