[PokeCommunity.com] Happy 10th Anniversary to Symphonia!

And by Symphonia, I mean Tales of Symphonia. ^^ To celebrate the 10 Anniversary of the Tales series, Namco Bandai is going to release a collector's bundle titled Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. It's basically a Playstation 3 compilation including remastered HD ports of Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

The package also includes five character figurines, a Tales of Symphonia light novel, a first edition 10th Anniversary Greeting card and a custom PS3 theme. It's going to be about $99. (unless someone wants to correct me here).

Soooo, if this interests you, will you get this bundle? What do you think of this bundle? What do you think of Tales of Symphonia in general? Share all thoughts here. :3

Not sure if the bundle Japan is getting is the same as what the US and other countries are getting. On the Gamestop website it says that you can pre-order Chronicles for $40 (but of course that might change in the future).

Regardless I'm probably going to try to preorder it. I don't even have a PS3 but there is no way I'm passing this up especially if it's going to come in a collectors edition like Xillia here in the U.S. Even better if it's going to come with the same stuff the collector's bundle had in Japan eee. ♥

I don't really care for Symphonia, but I'll be getting this since I don't have the original. Also because I haven't played Dawn of the New World and I feel like I have to attempt that at least once, but given all I've heard about it, I doubt I'll have the COURAGE to get through the whole thing.

I would probably get this but I don't want to overload myself on video games especially since a fair number of good games are coming out in the next few months.

In North America (and possibly other English regions but I only know NA), Sony has a rule that HD re-releases of old games can't retail for more than $40. With that in mind, we probably won't get many extras, if any. I'm feeling like pre-order/first-day editions might have a little hardcover artbook (like Kingdom Hearts HD is doing) but I wouldn't expect them to go above and beyond. I don't, however, know if there are rules about special editions. We won't get the same one as Japan because Japan always gets crazy limited edition swag but we could probably expect some of the smaller things. (Postcards, we'll probably get the themes either way, etc.)

Anyway! I'm really excited about this. :) I've had the PS2 version of Symphonia for a long time but when I finally sat down to play it the other year, it had been too long since I'd played the GCN version and I couldn't remember what I was supposed to do well enough. (And my Japanese was pretty rusty then.) The load times are just awful too but without voiced skits, I found it too hard to go back to the original game. I'm so excited to get to play the PS2 version in English, then! And I have a feeling ToS2 will be waaaay more tolerable with a real controller instead of the Wii remote. (Fingers crossed that while they're in its code, they'll change it so first player can be one of the original ToS characters in battle! :x)

Also that dual-audio announcement? <3 That makes me so happy. I hope we get a release date announcement in NA soon. I'm expecting March but I'd certainly like it to come out sooner so that Xillia 2 can come out sooner as well. :( I considered importing it but when they announced dual-audio I didn't see a point but waiting is haaaarrd.

Hm, I really have no desire to go through DotNW again, and I doubt hearing Emil's original VA will change my opinion of him, lol. But I do enjoy Symphonia to an extent, and even if the PS2 port doesn't have the greatest of changes from the original, I would still like to go through again, maybe just for memories sake.

The nendoroid figures are cute, but I'm not sure it's enough to make me fork over $100 though; I have a feeling they won't bother translating the light novel either.
