i have made a few new caves and orchard's to place normally unobtainable pokemon in emerald (like legendaries and johto/kanto pokemon)
I have everything working great except one small annoying thing where if i go into my pokedex and go to a pokemon that normally isnt on the map and select "area" it still says "area unknown"

can someone link me to a guide or give me some tips on how to make these pokemon appear on the "area" portion of the pokedex. many thanks!

If they're not in the wildpokemon tab then they won't appear as being in that area. If there's no grass/water/rock smash rocks then you can put their wild data on that map and they'll show up on the Pokedex.

But make sure you can't go into the grass/water/no rocks smash rocks or you'll get wild legendaries.

nonono i meant i did put them in the grass.. and water

the legendaries i have scripted to be like events that you talk to then disappear afterwards.
i have roughly 15 made areas with grass and water and none of the pokemon in those areas show on the map

just a small update i just tried to create a map connection to see if maybe that would make the game realize where these caves are, but no dice.

ok just trying some other stuff out and i put a mantine in route 128 and checked to see if he showed up on the map and he doesn't... so even putting pokemon in the original maps doesn't allow them to show in the pokedex catch location :(

yes. as stated i put different pokemon on the vanilla maps that were unchanged. but its ok for now, i have ceased work on the rom for awhile as i found another hack by someone else that was pretty close to what i was looking to make my rom into. oddly enough the rom has 650 pokemon scattered around and yet every single one of them actually shows on the location finder unlike mine :(

either way thanks for trying to help im going to play this hack for awhile then continue to work on mine at a later date.
