    I've been playing Pokémon for years. Starting with Yellow, I now own every single game of the main series.

    Something that has bothered me for years (or atleast, during the latest few generations) is that, while going through routes and caves, I sometimes can actually hear Pokémon cries outside of battle. I thought I was hearing things, but there's been a few times now where I've definitelyheard noises.

    Is this a bug, an intended feature, or am I just going crazy? Please tell me other people hear them ><;;

    I posted this here, since it applies to most Pokémon games.
     
    Its a feature there to make it seem as though wild pokemon are actually around you in the environment. In Kanto it was usually Rattata and Zubats cries
     
    It was a feature put in during... 3rd Gen?

    I thought the same thing for a while myself.

    And... looking at the post before me apparently it's been there a lot longer than I've noticed O.O
    Maybe I never noticed because my mother always made me turn my volume down because it annoyed her for the longest time hahaha.

    Arg... It's enough to hear zubat all the time during encounters in a cave. But when I hear it while walking? Grrrrr....
     
    Yeah I have heard it too starly's and in R/S/E I heard Zigzagoons...it is a cool feature!!! :D
     
    Yeah it the cry of a Zubat to make the caves sound more 'realistic' in one way or another.
     
    If your lead is a Pokemon with some particular ability in Emerald, Diamond, Pearl or Platinum, the noise level goes up! Hustle, I think, is the aforementioned ability.

    The first time I heard it was in RSE and it was a zigzagoon...I thought it was me at first, but then I realized it was a function in the game...lol

    it's not bad though...I barely hear wild pokemon though in my DP game!
     
    I heard starly often on Pearl on early routes but Im not sure if there are more.
     
    Man I tell you what made me mad.
    Saphire version.
    In that first cave with the waterfalls, Meteor Cave or something? I forget...
    And two steps in I run into a Zubat. A shiny Zubat. I wanted a Crobat BADLY, so I thought, hey, all the better. Weaken it, check my bag, and to my surprise, no Pokeballs.

    So I just ran, and then two seconds later heard the Zubat cry while walking in the cave.
    It was laughing at meh >.<
     
    Lol. let me go off topic for a sec. My brother lost the chance to catch a shiny Nidorina in the safari zone but it ran and appeared twice more at the same level and always ran.

    On topic, that cave is the most common place to hear Zubat cries

    That is honestly a combination of the absolute best luck and worst luck I've ever heard hahaha... A universe should have exploded because of it somehow O.o
     
    Does this exist in RBY and GSC, or just RSE and DPP? Because I've never heard this before and I think you're all crazy. Than again, I've only played the 1st two gens.

    In caves it was allways Rhyhorn or Gedude.

    It's definitely in the 3rd and 4th Generations...
    I'm willing to argue about the first two though, I never heard it before.
